Take Me To A Desert Place

This weekend was filled with wind, rain, wind and more rain mixed with the occasional pounding of hail.  It's hard to believe that only one week ago I was in Palm Springs (yes I'm still harping on that) enjoying 86 degrees well into the evening.  In order to avoid slipping into a major depression due to gloomy weather, broken heater, and derelict landlord I basked in the glow of photos from last weekend when I wore a maxi skirt I recently picked up at Anthropologie.

I've never really seen myself as a maxi skirt person and would like to take this moment to thank Carey from Corks & Caftans for what I think may become an addiction.  At first I felt as though I'd conjured up Laura, Mary and Ma Ingalls all in one, but once I hit the desert it was straight up Dances with Wolves (or as my friend Andy would say - Dances with Wool- when blanket is present.) only I opted to pull on a long ribbed tank over top to mix it up.  Suffice it to say a fave new outfit has been born.

Blanket and I wanted to build a fire.  We're considering relo to a tee pee.
~Winter Kate-Gypsy Rose Vest, James Perse-Ribbed Tank Dress, Odille-Maxi Skirt~
Can we take a moment to discuss this vest?  I've been stalking it since last year and
picked it up on sale just after Christmas.  Remember I first mentioned it here?
When I opened the package and swung it over my t-shirt and sweats it was game over.
I may or may not have even worn it to bed once.  Okay maybe twice.
True Love
~Brandy and Melville-Fringe Bag (seen here and here), Motif56 and PANYC-Bracelets,
Melinda Maria-Link Oxidized Ring, Nordstrom-Green Ring, Anthropologie-Belt~
Details on skirt = magic.  I can't stop wearing it around the house.
Head over to Facebook to catch more pictures of blanket from this post -
all taken in Hipstamatic and totally ridic.

Anyway here's to brighter and warmer days ahead.  My heat's back on just in time for the work week, and Blanket is on standby.  Friday are you out there?

I really love the skirt, and the little details on it. I don't own a maxi skirt but they look so comfy.

It's funny how a rainy dark day in the dead of Summer serves as a wonderful little treat, allowing you to stay in and veg out, but in the Spring time it is an absolutely let down!

We had sun over here on my side of the world, and I'm hoping it is making its way towards you, love!

You looked gorgeous in this outfit, despite the rain!

L-O-V-E!!! This outfit reminds me that I used to have a skirt very similar to that one. The key words being USED to. Because apparently somewhere along the way I felt the need to get rid of it. Fekkin eejit, I am. Your vest? Your belt? Gimme.

Mwah!

Absolutely lovely outfit choice and atmospheric photos. I never saw myself as some who could rock a maxi because of my height but then I look at people like Mary-Kate Olsen and they inspire me think, 'sod it, I can wear whatever I like.' This summer will definitely be a maxi summer for moi :)

Sorry to hear you're in the holiday come down phase. It does feel blue to be home after a good adventure.

The rain is out of control. It just won't stop. And isn't it supposed to be Spring now?? I'm now dreaming of Palm springs and 80 degree weather after reading this. Carrie, this outfit is perfect. The skirt is so pretty, all the fringe is amazing and I love that we get a glimpse of the blanket in the background. Thank goodness your heater is working again! I hope you had a great weekend!

ahh!!! I just bought a crochet vest (which I have been searching for about 28476284 years) and I am pretty sure I will be wearing it every single day of summer. Also, I haven't convinced myself if I am a maxi skirt person yet. I might need you help.

Love this look, and your Dances with Wool-John and I have been watching a lot of Walker, Texas Ranger lately (please, don't ask me why. I suppose it's my punishment for falling for a Texan) and it reminds me of some seriously divine Native American-episodes.

Totally and completely guilty of warming myself by the stove. Even more embarrassing-turning the stove on BROIL and opening it to heat the entire house. Lucky our last apartment was teeny!

Yea, I'm still not sure what I think about the maxi skirt trend, mostly because I'm not sure that they will look good on me! But I love this one on you. I need to take risks and try some Bohemian looks this summer. ;)

You look so refreshed and fab in these pics! I'm digging the maxi skirt! At 5'2", I have no shame! I'm eyeing that sequined maxi from the J Crew spring line :)
