~My Family Circa the 70's~
In the midst of all the moving/not moving/moving/not moving drama that's taken place this week I found an envelope from my mom containing some pictures from my childhood. In this one we were about to go to my cousin's wedding where I was to perform my flower girl duties. I remember two distinct things about that day: I hated my hair (which coincidentally I fought desperately to replicate in my early 20's) and I loved my mom's green jumpsuit. It had the widest legs and a little hood in back. For years I dreamed of the day I would be able to fit in it and sashay around with those legs swishing about, so you can only imagine how disappointed I was when I called to see if she had it in a box only to learn it was long gone. The dream may be dead, but the photo and memories live on.

Carrie, there is so much awesomeness in this picture that my head my just explode.
I would have wanted the mint green jumpsuit, too. My Mom didn't save many, or any, of her clothes except for her wedding gown which I couldn't wear because she's 2 or 3 inches shorter and several sizes smaller than I was when I got married. And she and my Dad got married in 1977. Oh well.
oh katie. i'm calling in my aunt's closet. a couple of them had some significant treasures so i'm really hoping there are a few goodies left lying around.
and annelise...this is one of my faves. i have another one i might share later, but this fro one is awesome. there's another from that day, but i scratched across it b/c i was so pissed that my cousin got an up-do and i got a fro and was totally embarrassed. now i see that fro was the best.hair.ever and wish i could get the picture fixed. it is unbelievably fabulous.

Mint green is such a luscious colour. And your family photograph is ever so adorable.
I can't tell you how much I was hoping to scroll down and see a picture of you rocking that jumpsuit.
I bet you would accessorize it incredibly, and I would be in all.
I personally think your corkscrew curls are awesome! hahaha

I look back at my Moms and Aunts clothes and feel the same way....I recently asked my Aunt if I could raid her closet....she said "theres nothing left"...ughh.....Id die to dig through all those 70 magic pieces......
OMG, look at the hair!!! I think I have a picture just like that somewhere hidden in my closet.
Hope the landlord issues get resolved soon.
Oh, old photos are the best! So fun to see the 70's fashion. xo
Aww, you look so adorable! It is such a shame the jumper is gone, surely lost to one of many closet purges we are continually putting ourselves through. So now you've got a new reason to never throw anything away: unborn vintage loving children.
I mean, really?!? Too cute! Absolutely adorable.
What a great picture! Love it.
awww what a little cutie patootie!
What a perfect 70s shot! I hope you get your own jumper that makes your heart flutter soon!

Wow, the jumper looks amazing! My mom had a navy blue jumper with a red color that I was always in awe of as a child - every time I see a photo of her in that thing I'm transported back to my childhood.

Aww, you look so cute in your flower girl dress and fro.
I think you should find someone to replicate that jumpsuit and then surprise your mother with it. :)
Oh my goodness, that photo is so adorable!! Look at you all, you are absolutely rocking the 70's, love it! And that jumpsuit would be so perfect for the summer, what a bummer. I'm always sad my mom's little dresses from her high school years are gone, the photos are so fab. All mini length, wide sleeved, plunging neckline goodness, I would totally wear them all summer. Hell even in winter I would toss some pants underneath and rock them like a tunic. So sad.
Aaah you are adorable in that foto!!!
xo
Oh my gosh - LOVE!! Everytime I get rid of something these days I always think, should I hang onto this, will I have a daughter one day that will pissed if I don't? :) This picture is the cuuuutest!
omg, so cute. that's why you hold on to EVERYTHIHG, hoarder style. what an adorable fam :)
This picture is so cute. You look adorable. And I love your mom's jumpsuit too. I think it would be totally fashionable today.

Bummer! I bet you would have looked killer in that little number!
Carrie, you are the CUTEST little girl! And your mom and her jumper are hot. So sad that it's gone! I have done this countless times with clothes my mom wore during the 70s, only to find out she doesn't have them any more. Ugh. It makes me get into pack rat mode and never give anything up!

Awesome pic!

That jumper is smashing. Don't Mom's know all things come back in style? I get so frustrated when I see things my mom used to have that are long gone.

I scrolled back up to look at this magical photo at least 3 times. It's amazing. And little Carrie-too damn cute!

Oh that is so funny. I have some pix's of me from the 70's of me in pink with little swedish braids on my head, wearing some kind of pink confection.
Ah, the duties of a flower girl!!
your mom's jumpsuit is AMAZING! I would totally rock that
i love this photo! lol.
isn't it amazing how fashions repeat themselves. I was showing my mom some wide leg jeans i bought and the shoes i intend to wear with it this weekend when she was visiting, and she said, "yup. looks just like what I wore at your age." i love it.
That is a totally awesome jumper. I would be so jealous if you had that.
I would probably steal it from you.
Just sayin'.

this is awesome. i just got a bunch of old pics from my mom for a blog post. i love looking back in time. your fro might actually be bigger than mine was and for that you get a high five! i have nothing of my mom's from the 70s- my little sister was quick to snatch all the awesome stuff. she's a vintage-freak :)
oh wow, that jumpsuit is so amazing! your momma was one stylish lady. i'm sorry it is no more, it would have looked fabulous on you.
your hair! the jumpsuit! the whole picture!!! all of it is fabulous!!!
and you might be moving?! i need to back track and catch up on the happenings in your world! ack!
Oh my gosh Carrie, this picture's awesome! You are the cutest little thing with that curly hair!
Aww...thanks for posting this. I love seeing photos from way back when. Love the long dress you have on.
Love the pic. I would so wear that jumper today - so 70s glam!

Sooo, do you straighten your hair every day??
oh my goodness, this post made my day!!! ha soooo cute!!!
Awww that's too bad. But Carrie, I don't think you could fit in it anymore. I mean you're slender and all but it might be a tight fit. Just sayin'!
; )
Damn Marie I must be a wide load. I'm a size zero and it looks like I can't fit in my mom's jumper? Pardon me while I get back to shredding!!
