Stopped In My Tracks

For some reason I'm having a tough time saying 'dead in my tracks' lately.  It's the d word I just can't stomach.  So instead I'm switching it up to what's above.  Same thing, no d and I'm rambling again.  Blame it on Jillian Michaels and her 30 Day Shred.  I've successfully completed Day 2 having acquired a slight hobble due to burning thighs.  No pain no gain suckers.  That's what I tell them when they threaten collapse on the living room floor.

Onto a brighter topic.  Earlier this week Shopbop sent me yet another dirty email, this time taunting me with Opening Ceremony.  Confession:  I don't usually get overly amped up over Opening Ceremony so I opened it with ease chuckling under my breath, "Ha ha Shopbop you can't get me this time" when of course I was greeted by these:

Opening Ceremony - Chantal Lace Platform Bootie
How's that for a b*tch slap?

Not moments before I had been scanning the closet thinking about how I needed some 60's type shoes for my Tucker dresses.  I tried to calm myself down saying, "Oh Gene Simmons from KISS would have worn a black version of those", but truthfully that only kind of made me want them more.  KISS addict here dear readers.  No shame in the admittance.  But that was only a temporary diversion because as I continued to scroll it got even better:

Hel-looo!  I'm now thinking of both pairs of these shoes pret-ty much all day long.  Can you imagine them with Tucker prints galore?  Why of course you can, and so can I, hence my daydreams.  This pair especially has me.  Cork + just feminine enough without going overboard to girlie world.  As I'm typing I'm trying to think of things I can sell to get these into my closet.  Thanks for that idea, Carey.  Anyone?  Anyone??

Opening Ceremony-Fringe Long Skirt

And never mind just the shoes.  While I was perusing I decided to go for it and hit up all of the Opening Ceremony category only to find this fringe piece of heaven.  Try not to stare at the shoes and just stay focused on the skirt.  I know, I know it's not easy but you can do it.  The skirt is gorgeous.  It is a fringe lovers dream.  I imagine wearing it with a simple t-shirt on a hot night.  You know, at the Chef's new restaurant that he finally got possession of.  HOLLAR!!  I'll hopefully have some more details to share in the upcoming days, but for now let's just have a moment of silence with the skirt.

Moment.

Onward and upward.  We're almost at Friday.  I can barely still walk even though I did the Shred and Pilates (silly overachiever), and a few more people jumped onboard the workout wagon.  Can someone pay me for working out?  Is there a government stipend for keeping fit?  I'm losing it...

"let's just have a moment of silence with the skirt.

Moment."

Annnnd I just woke Jared up from laughing. He's been asleep for, like, 4 hours because he's "tired" or some such nonsense. (I'm gonna feel so bad tomorrow when he's sick or something...) Out of reflex I nearly yelled "There's no modification! Don't phone it in, buddy!" Then I realized that doesn't even make sense in the real world. And I need help.

Send help.

Need that second pair. Want the third, but *Need the 2nd. (yep. perfect for my Tucker dress!)

(must brainstorm a way... maybe a prize for completing #30??)

I'll make you a deal, if one of us wins the lottery we can split it and buy shoes. And maybe pay someone to beat up Jillian for inventing this ridiculous Shred. Day 3 here we come.

Umm that Opening Ceremony fringe skirt??? I NEED it. Now. It is SEXY. And I want to wear it on the beach.... you know after I order the 30 day shred on amazon and then start it and then complete it. Yes after that.

I know what you mean...Shopbop is a dangerous place (Rag & Bone is my personal weakness)...
And ALL of those Opening Ceremony shoes are gorgeous!

I love both shoes! The lace is beautiful, but I have a weakness for t-strap shoes. It would be too hard to decide!

my favorite is still the lace booties first, front, and center. i am not going to be obsessed about wearing them with cuffeed denim and a cropped jacket just to show off those jazzy suckers! so close to friday we can taste it!

Those lacey shoes are crazy awesome! All this shredding is making me feel guilty and I'll be cooking a (relatively) healthy meal of Indian spiced cauliflower and sweet potato now.

It's Kristin....good to know! I realized last night I had no idea if it was Kris or Megan (bonbon rose) in our painful crew....yet kept forgetting to actually find out. Btw, I can't sit normally. I have to lower myself slowly with shaking thighs. I'm sure it'll eventually pass right? Not a great sight to see.

Oh my they totally had you in mind with these pieces!

The cork t-strap sandals definitely stopped me in my tracks! Those would be PERFECT with Tucker dresses! Now I'm obsessed as well. And the fringe skirt is so you! You NEED that in your wardrobe. Good for you for sticking with the shred! I love hearing about it. :)

It's Angela, darling. :)

Why are you throwing out ideas for Tucker dresses when I just acquired my first "real" Tucker dress this week (the one from Target is lovely and all, but not quite on the same level)?
I saw those t-strap shoes a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love, but white shoes give me instant nurse vibe and I have to fight hard against that image. And let's not talk about those Chloe Sevigny platforms in the third picture. I died upon viewing and then cringed at the price.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who instantly thinks what can I sell when seeing beautiful, over-priced stuff. I still haven't come up with enough to rock those platforms unfortunately.

Santina said...

Those t-strap platforms are making me drool all over my keyboard. I'm quite certain that skirt was made for you, and I believe the shoes paired with it our the Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony platform Mary Janes that I featured on my blog. LOVE THEM!

this free bird said...

Santina I hear ya girl. It's like Opening Ceremony pulled into my head and read my shoe dreams. Ugh. And the SKIRT!! wah

Marie a la Mode said...

I am in LOVE with that skirt! It's so YOU! So are the shoes but if you had to choose between the shoes or the skirt I say PICK THE SKIRT!!!

Lisa said...

OMGGG those lace shoes are GORGEOUS!! i'm not typically a 60's or bohemian inspired type of girl but even i think those shoes are beyond delicious!! something about the front platform.. and that lace *sigh* so dreamy.

I think you should get a break on health insurance if you keep in shape. :)

I'm obsessed with those last shoes in the pic of the skirt. I have to scroll quickly past them or else sell my camera to get them (and that just won't do)!!

Huge congrats to Chef!

this free bird said...

Kara you're a woman after my own shoe heart. And health insurance. What's that? ugh

i am pleased to report that i have a pair of kiss boots. well, they are semi-reminiscent of kiss boots. i rarely wear them, but then again i don't get rid of them.

oh you and all of your shred followers are showing some of us up. then again, i busted a gut (sadly not LITERALLY) doing a kathy smith work out last night. ugh. i wish we got paid for these work outs! and for blogging. :)

This post is absolutely hilarious! And as far as the Shopbop addiction goes, do what I do and add the shoes to your shopbop HEARTS than follow them each time your HEARTS go on sale. I say 3rd time's a charm - but if they are near sell out time, snatch them up as cheap and as quick as possible!

It's like ShopBop reads your blog and your mind-how could you resist those amazing shoes?! Especially with all that exercise addling your brain-you didn't stand a chance.

oh i love those second shoes! i've been thinking about platform shoes lately. at an even 5 feet tall, i'm totally intrigued by the thought of standing much much taller out in the world. hmm...

I'm on my 4th consecutive day of the 30 Day Shred. It's been a good way to burn off excess stress and tension this week. Plus, it's been too cold to run outside (which sucks since I really need to get back to my 5K training). Anyhow, the Shred is getting easier, but I still talk back to Jillian. Tell me you do that too :)
