Jump on the Shred Mill

It happened so fast I'm not even exactly sure how it went down.  Monday was barreling by:  I finished up an email to a colleague, started packing up for class, glanced at twitter and saw Katie mention she'd started the 30 Day Shred.  The next thing I knew Monday must have run off with my sanity because I offered to partner with her for the sake of motivation aka whining.  Cut to twitter scene and there are 5 of us in the game planning not to 'phone it in'.  What have I done?  I mean aside from thrown myself on the altar of summer's around the corner and the saddle bags have got to go...

Even though I've done the Shred twice before with excellent results, for some reason I can't seem to get back on the wagon and stick to it.  On Friday I got the sickest package from Free People.  Prepare.  Are you sitting down?

Mmmmmkay?  It's sold out so I can't even give you a link.  Sowee.

How in the sam hockey stick am I supposed to pull this thing off with a slight bit of muffin top left over from Christmas?  Really people.  How?  Truth:  I don't want to.  I want to lose 10 and feel healthy again.  Boho is on the verge of in full swing.  I can't have a muffin of any sort except for the occasional breakfast one or I'll never be able to pull this sheer romper off.  And may I just note that it is even more fantastic in person?  Think Moroccan dancing on the rooftop deck should my landlord ever cooperate and throw me the upper space.  Doesn't he know I have dreams??  Dreams!!

My body must be in a full on panic.  After class I found myself at the conventional grocery store that I rarely go to standing in front of the Ben & Jerry section.  It's all Valerie's fault (just like an addict to blame everyone else-haha!).  She mentioned that ice cream with the chunks of potato chips in it.  Even though it wasn't in the grocer's freezer I somehow managed to leave with a family size bag of Ruffles potato chips and a pint of Chocolate Covered Macadamia Chocolate Ice Cream.  I need an intervention.  Jillian tweeted me once.  I hope she's not reading this or I'll race into the living room, turn that video on STAT, and proceed to do it repeatedly until collapse.  Or infinity.  Whichever comes first.  Don't mess with Jillian - she does not play.  I'm rambling.

So here we go.  Anyone else up for the Shred Mill? (really I don't know where I come up with this stuff) The more the merrier.  Think toned legs and a lifted butt for summer.  Oh yeah and abs.  I'm getting out a picture of Carrie Bradshaw's skinny legs and pinning it next to my computer.

Do you know what Jared did while I was Shredding? Napped. He took a nap. Right in front of me while I was trying to not throw my weights at his flat screen TV. We're gonna need some sort of relationship counseling for everyone involved before this is over. Or just for me. Whatever. Viva La Tiny Fitness Revolution! (We're having shirts made, right? I think its needed.)

YES!! I survived the Shred Mill...or how about My Relationship Survived the Shred Mill? BAHAHAHAHA!! It gets better in week 2.

ps-you kinda started this katie. so i'll just blame you and you can blame me. that should help when we're ready to dip into the sauce aka margaritas. hehe

My whole plan for this involves us blaming each other lol. (Wait can we not have Happy Hour margaritas on Fri? I was already looking forward to that. Don't know if ill make it through the week without that glimmer of hope.)

Ahhh oh my gosh Carrie! You look fab and I don't think you need to lose any weight at all... but if you're looking into toning, then that's great... I feel like I'd rather be strong instead of thing... I mean, we are supposed to be able to lift our own weight right?? I think I can lift about half of mine... and it's weird that I can do several push ups (yes, the man kind, lol), but for the life of me, I can't do a single push up. It's a hot mess when I even try! I NEED to get back into shape and carve out the size four body I used to have. Wish me luck... well after I enjoy all the goat cheese I just bought.. ha ha.

Hope you're well my dear.. and Pooma says Hello. ;)

xx Love & Aloha

p.s. that Jumper is all kinds of amazing. You will rock it for sure.

I think you all ladies look fabulous. But I understand why you all want to get healthy and fit. I would join in but unfortunately I am not allowed to do a lot of exercise right now until I figure out what it's wrong with my feet. Long story, I used to be a long distance runner. But I am here for moral support.

Sigh who doesn't want toned legs and thighs? I will resolve to do one of these programs as soon as I can use both legs!

I'm doing the shred now! Got 3 days in last time before I fell off the wagon ;). Now I'm counting calories again and trying to get back down to my lowest weight from 2 years ago. I'm in for the shred (3 days in so far from last week). I'm also dabbling with training for a run again. We got this girl!

I started Ripped in 30 yesterday. I had been doing NMTZ, but then took last week off. Today I'm as sore as I was a few months ago on day one. ugh. And I've been craving that same ice cream ever since she posted it!

Okay...suddenly I feel the urge to pour out my iced mocha. I WANT ABS!!

See instead of making me feel like exercising all I want is to try potato chips in my ice cream. That jumpsuit is gorgeous. I want I want.

it's pretty much like you're inside my head, with the whole grocery store debacle thing.

um, am i a loser cause i don't know what the '30 day shred' is? probably it just means i am horrificly (is that how you spell that? it doesn't seem right.) out of shape.

sigh.

Ugh. I should say I am IN for the shred. I mean, it's 30 frigging minutes out of your life a day - easy, right? Yet I can ALWAYS find something else to do except work out at home. That's why I have to haul my ass to the gym. Still, I will ATTEMPT. Are you doing an official start date on it, or just jump in whenever?

And imma just say it - you need to send me that jumper like NOW.

Mwah!

I'm under the weather right now but as soon as I'm back to feeling good I need to start working out. I just feel so much better when I have a nice healthy routine going.

Love the jumpsuit!

I am SO Proud to be aprt of THE FAB 5....Jillian aint go tnothin on us...well except for no cottage cheese and some mad toned arms....The shred and her 6-wks to 6-pk abs are enroute with new 5lb weights...to be delivered in about 1-2 business days!

Girl that jumpsuit is BANANAS....and i am kinda thinking the no muffin at all is necessary for that thing!!! But if anyone can do it - it is you!!!

xx-T

PS - she better play nice!

oooh, i'm shredding tonight (seriously, have the dvd). i am just so out of shape it's embarrassing. i tried to run a mile yesterday and almost collapsed about 1 minute in. ugh.

I need to get back on the 30-Day Shred too. I did it once before, but fell off the wagon about two weeks in. Ack.

Unknown said...

Okay, first of all you are crazy because you have an amazing body! I do not see any of the aforementioned bad qualities you pointed out. But that being said, I NEED to get my butt (and my arms, and legs, and abs) in shape for the summer. I am trying really hard at the gym...but i think my weakness is food too. ESPECIALLY SWEETS. UGh....now I'm rambling

Get it, girl! The best thing for a new program is to have peeps to do it with, so you're on the right track there! I'll be putting some exercise tutorials on my blog soon if you ever want any new ideas to add to the 'fun' ; )

GOOD LUCK!

I don't know what the 30-day shred involves, so I'm going to have to research before I confirm, but I have muffins galore to get rid of so I need to be on some kind of exercise/diet plan.

It's going to be a long road for me though because I went to the grocery store last night and saw that potato chip ice cream. I was tempted to try it, but the boyfriend gave me a look and said he wasn't interested in testing it out with me, so I bought the red velvet ice cream instead. Sweets are my sickness!!!

I'm sure you'll be rocking that stunning jumpsuit in no time.

TheChambrayCountess said...

Yowza, that jumpsuit is amazing and although you don't need to loose any weight, I love the sense of triumph that comes from accomplishing goals, so I know you can do it!!

torrie said...

You know I'm in! I've been submersed in my grandma's party, and have been off the wagon for 3 days. Today, I'm getting this crazy house back in order, and tomorrow, I'm jumping back in (or crawling back in I should say).

Wish me luck... I'll need it! (Maybe I should hang my bikini, or those tiny jeans on the wall for added motivation??

Valerie said...

Carrie, I am DYING over your new Free People romper. I cannot wait to see you wearing it in a post. And I'm impressed with your motivation for the shred! I've been trying to force myself onto a healthy kick the last few weeks and somehow that ice cream keeps getting in my way. (That and the 10 mini cupcakes I ate last night, sigh). Thank you for the shout out! So I'm on board! But what exactly does this mean??

The chef got the keys???!!!! I want to hear all about it! Congratulations to both of you! I'm dying to know the details!

So happy to see so many of you jumping on. I'm going to do the 30 Day Shred and if I waver alternate with No More Trouble Zones. Both are Jillian Michaels dvd's that you can get at Target. Torrie! You are not alone - I think it will really help to know other ppl are doing this - at least for me. And I'm going to fess up my slips off the wagon...I already ate 1/4 cup of the damn ice cream I bought last night. Woops! But totally planning snacks and stuff for the remainder of the week to stay on track. Yippee!!

And yes Alicia - Carrie Bradshaw's legs always motivate me. I can be in the biggest slump, see her legs, and suddenly want to get started again!

a couple of things. that romber is TO die for! can't wait to see how you wear it.

secondly, i must do the 30 day shred. i need to do something to jumpstart the nasty lbs i've been adding on. wth?!

count me in. i'll head to target to get the DVD and advil since I know I'll need both!

this free bird said...

YAHOOO!!!! totally do it and let's get it started in here *cue the music*

First, that jumper is DIVINE, and you are going to look like heaven in it, with or without muffin (which I have a hard time believing is there).

SF is good for dieting, since meat is rarely available and I have to walk for groceries, but bad for bikini motivation, since it's always so damn chilly. So now that I have a big bikini gauntlet (Mexico, July, thank you Jesus), I may need to invest in some truly life-ruining exercise videos. Any chance you guys will do 30 Day Shred-part 2 come June? I will NEED someone to blame for my pain, and I think you and Katie might be just the girls...

danielle said...

oh no you didn't. i'm proud of you for buying this. it's amazing. pics of how you're wearing it ASAP please! :)

christ. this post must be meant for ME. i have been slacking on the working out, and CHOWING DOWN lately. and it shows. SIGH. not sure if i want to listen to that cheap hooker from the shred again (yup, i have been there/done that shred thing before), but something has got to give. hopefully it is some of this extra flab!

gorgeous and you're lucky!!

drollgirl - i hear ya. i want to heave the tv every time she calls me buddy. but then i look at her arms and give in. she's effective.

Still looking for my misplaced motivation, Carrie.... maybe I'll start w/ yoga! xo

Stacey said...

You go girl! Katie makes a great partner too. I'm all for toned legs and thighs! Keep us posted on the progress.

Lila said...

Yikes this is just too painful to read. If you think you need to shred what about the rest of us argh! I'm not shredding but I just got the bowflex treadmill so I'll be treading instead.

Claire Kiefer said...

It's true, it's the "buddy" thing that's so annoying. And have I mentioned how I can't help but crack up at the beginning every time I hear her say "I've got 400 pound people who can do jumping jacks--so can you!!"

I'm totally in. Except for Fri-Wed when I'm in NYC! :) But otherwise, I'm on the shred wagon and totally taking charge cause what I used to call a muffin top has evolved into something much worse.

I actually bought Jillian's Yoga Meltdown the other day, might switch it up & do that sometime soon.

Thanks for the motivation! And you're gonna look smokin' hot in that sheer romper, 10 lbs or not!

Jess said...

wait a second...ice cream with potato chips?! Going over to Valerie's blog right now to look into this!

Discovery Street said...

I wish I could join you...I am so not the "please kick my ass during this workout" type of person. I'm much more a yoga, pilates, or a nice walk kind workout girl. I find when I get my ass kicked I lose so much motivation because I can hardly walk after one of those kinds of work outs!

30 day shred? Hmmn... never heard of it but it sounds like I should jump in that wagon CaRRIE! Ahh.. me need to do that so I can get into that jumper beauty!

Girls the Shred Mill is just a phrase I came up for to describe getting back on the 30 Day Shred wagon. If you haven't heard of the 30 Day Shred it's a workout dvd by Jillian Michaels. It totally works and is about 30 minutes a day in home. No gym!

I saw that jumpsuit on the website and was/am in love. I am not surprised it sold out, cause it's amazing. The shorts I am wearing in my second to last post were from their onine store, and they also sold out. And I feel like I may have to try that DVD... since I will have to be in a bathing suit at some point soon.

I am totally in. I first have to get the video but that's not a problem. I've been doing some of Jillian's workouts from OnDemand but I've heard the DVDis slightly different.

Is there a diet recommended with this workout? I want to do it all!
