Revisiting the Past

Yesterday I walked into the bathroom, washed my face, turned around, walked out and mid-stride lost feeling in my left foot and eventually up my leg.  Yes dear friends - somehow in the comfort and safety of my own home, AND in bare feet, I twisted my ankle standing in the bathroom.  *shakes head as face turns red*

Of course this led to me taking an Advil (two and I'm down for the count aka lightweight), and then having to put my foot up as the Chef made dinner and shook his head.  I don't even blame him.  All I have to say is everything my dad told me about getting older is coming true and I don't like it one bit.  Creaky bones, twisted ankles, fine lines around the eyes, and lamenting the past.  Did your past include shades of pink?  Mine sure did.  At one point in high school I think pink was the predominant shade lining my closet in it's various hues.  It is, coincidentally, the color of my ankle right now, too. Sigh.

While I was laid up on the couch I decided to torture myself yet again and peruse Isabel Marant's spring line.  It appears as though I'll be renewing two past relationships - one with the color pink and the other with slouch boots.  Bonjour mes amis.  Il est bon de vous voir de nouveau. (hello my friends.  it is good to see you again)

Jacket and Pants?  High School.
The return of the bomber jacket.
Are those friendship bracelets strapped around the boots?
 The boho dream lives on.
And, as always, completely dripping with class.
This is black and white chic done impeccably.

I've still not recovered from the sequined pants she created for Fall/Winter 2010/2011.  I scour sales hoping to include one piece from her runway collections.  So far no dice, but it sure is fun to watch from afar and look for ways to incorporate her styling vision into what I already own.  Enjoy!  It was hard not to post each and every look.

Okay I can't help it - I have to include one more:

The dress, the boots, the belt - perfection!

Boo for your ankle, hope it's not too badly sprained. I once sprained mine by falling over. We looked around to see what I could have tripped on, but there was nothing but even ground all around. I was on crutches for a week! Silly.

Nice clothes, like them a lot. But re: the second picture? I hope bras aren't going out this season. Otherwise I'm screwed.

Oh, hope your ankle feels better, Carrie! I am the queen of getting hurt in my own home in odd stupid ways. Well, the plus side is that Chef is there to whip you up wonderful dinners! I love this collection... love pink! Those pink shorts are so cute. The best part about the collection is that it is very wearable. xo

aww, poor Carrie!! Hope you will get better soon. Yeah, I know.. getting older sucks!

Lovely pics you chose there. Love every single one of those outfits. Actually, I only have one pink piece in my closet: a Ralph Lauren shirt. That´s it. I´m not a pink loving girl at all.

Yes, I too was once a pinkaholic - every facet of my life was dripping in pink for many years.
Few things remain, but it's still a very flattering color and can be good in small doses.

Sorry about your ankle, hope you have a swift recovery.

Oh my gosh those blue sequin pants, that is what I live for in fashion. There are a pair of cute pink jeans at forever 21 that kind of remind me of the first pants. Here is the link Pink Jeans

The first and last looks KILL me - swoon! Oh Isabel, why must you taunt us so? Love!

Also, on the Justin Bieber front? I have been a closet fan since I was shopping in Target one day and his "Baby" video came on (on about 30 TVs in the electronics section) - kind of obsessed with that song. He's opening a clothing boutique at The Grove!!! :)

ooh I do love that last look. Love slouch boots, but I continued to wear them for about 3 winters now. Is that bad?

I have not worn that shade of pink since junior high but I already found a sweater for summer in that very shade. :)

Oh you poor dear!! So sorry about your ankle, hope it is feeling better. You shouldn't feel bad for getting hurt in your own house. I once very innocently, and like you in bare feet, walked across my floor only to step just right (or just wrong as it were) on a power cord. Right under the joint of my big toe, it hurt so much and within minutes there was a big bump and by the next day was a black and blue mess. It hurt to walk for weeks. So that head shaking, how in the world did this happen feeling? Oh I know it well. Feel better!!

Ugh and so sorry about your ankle :( I double twisted my ankle a couple of years ago and it was miserable! Ice that baby up!

Sorry to hear about your ankle and YES getting older is certainly a killer on the body. I have several avid runner friends with recent ACL surgeries so I have been walking a lot lately! My house would not function well, if at all, if I were down for a few weeks!! Feel better! xoxo

Someone just told me the other day that friendship bracelets are coming back. I'm not mad about it, haha! I loved frienship bracelets. I'll take the bomber jacket, boots, boho tunic, heck, gimme it ALL. I hope you get to feeling better soon! Bless your soul. Sounds like something I would do!!

Oh no! Don't worry, I almost slipped off of the stairmaster at the gym and completely ate it in front of the morning rush. Luckily, no ankles were twisted. Just a bruised ego.

PS - this collection = me hoping into a time machine and stoping myself from throwing away all those friendship bracelets. If I only knew I could've tied them around my boots!!!
