The truth is we usually get a zap of heat in September/October that causes us to pause on the fall wardrobe. It made me wonder today - what have I done in the past? So tonight I spent some time rooting around in the closets before turning to Isabel Marant's Ready-To-Wear Fall Line for inspiration. Without fail, I fall in love with every piece of her collection season after season. Her clothing speaks to my heart in all the right ways and knows just what I want before I can articulate it, her Fall 2010 collection being no exception. It is absolutely perfect warm weather transition wear and I felt renewed vigor staring at the looks over and over again. It's like Grease meets Parisian-chic...

Can someone please tell me where I can get red, cropped skinny denim?

Never before have I so longed for electric blue sequined denim.
This is one I could replicate so quickly if I just had the pants!!
I won't even comment. The outfit speaks volumes all on its own.
The most important thing I took away from watching this show (on repeat for an hour, I might add) is that even though I may not be able to afford all these separates - I can look in my closet and find similar shapes and silhouettes to create really great warm weather fall transition outfits. Isabel Marant continues to be a designer I look to for inspiration because she doesn't follow rules - she follows what she likes.

LOVE getting inspired then trying to figure out how to create it with what you already have. Of course I also figure out 2340490 new things I want, but thats besides the point. That last look is absolute perfection and I hope you do a version of it soon!

We are experiencing Fall full-on in your home province. I made the mistake of not wearing a coat this morning and almost froze my patooties off in my car while driving to work! How I would love weather like yours right now!
I just think it's so funny how we are all so complex and opinionated and drawn to such vastly different things: fashion, music, city v. country, food, etc. I love things that aren't objective!
Finally it's cooled down in San Francisco--it's still not quite fall chilly (as, in my opinion, it should be), but we've been relieved of the monstrous heat wave that had me dreaming of ice baths.
I love this collection, I have needed some denim inspiration! And I kind of wish I could experience 100 degree plus weather right about now!

Oh my, Carrie. WHERE can I get my hands on a budget pair of those blue sequined pants??? I'm falling in love with all of these looks and you're so right about them being perfectly appropriate for the weather transition. I might just have to check the fabric store this weekend for some blue sequined fabrics and get to work. That sounds ambitious for a girl who hasn't touched her sewing machine since the 8th grade. last summer i use to wear me Dondup's rolled up - they are boyfriend jeans and all baggy and loose - but i would roll them up tight on the bottom - looked cute!

Those red capris/outfit are AMAZING! As is your indian summer weather! We had a few days of near 50 degrees here, and I was practically walking around in a t-shirt... But, dude, -40... that's just not even ethical!!! My dad lives in that kinda crazy weather (occasionally) in Wisconsin and invited us to come back soon and live in their cabin for free... But I can't imagine going from winter here to winter there and having it be EVEN colder!!! No way José!
Stick with that line of thinking Heather!! It can be really crazy when you plug in your car and it still doesn't start the next day due to sub-zero temps. ugh!

people people! those blue pants are so totally obtainable!... remember last winter's sexy ankle-length Siwy sequined legging/pants on Shopbop? They came in red, BLUE, and gold.... now I know how to wear my gold ones this year. And I thought they were obsolete... phew!
