Taking down the tree is an arduous task (drama queen much?) - physically and emotionally. If you're like me you've left it up just past it's expiration date and the pine needles are now out for blood. Then there's the angst associated with saying farewell to nights by twinkling lights, excuses for eating chocolates by the pound and cookies in droves, not to mention realizing spring isn't really here and you're basically over black and grey.

In an effort to keep spirits high, Chef made a fantastic melt-in-your-mouth red wine saturated brisket last night. I did my part by spending far too much time perusing various online never, never lands and fell on these Wedges at Shopbop. Thank God in Heaven they are sold out in my size or it would have been ON. Dear Gwen Stefani....I love you.
p.s. - we only got as far as removing the ornaments.

I love when you write like this. I feel like we're having a conversation on the phone or something. And kudos to your husband for taking care of you. You deserve it!
red-wine brisket? wow. delish.
just wanted to tell you that i read you each day and i apologize for not commenting enough. poop.
DB - my friend keeps trying to get me to do vlogs b/c i really do talk like this. uh, too scared. we should totally have tea!
Summer - red wine brisket is so delish and fab and we had it w/home made rosemary infused french fries. off the hook. okay and thank you for reading each day...i read yours too. i totally understand. it can be tough to leave a comment on each one, no matter how hard you might want to. hugs to you, friend. xoxo
Such a weird time.. no more holiday outfits but not yet Spring break fiesta clothes either. Or mood. Just kinda, bleh. Haha.
Always enjoy reading your posts!

Our tree came down around New Years... and then sat by the house until a couple of days ago when Jared finally chopped it up so it could be disposed of. Oops. It IS an arduous task!
If those come back in your size POUNCE! Winter is brutal and you do what you have to do to survive. (Now who's being dramatic?)
those shoes are gorgeous!! i'm sorry you're having to say goodbye to your dear sweet tree. ours is still in the yard, waiting to be chopped up into perfect fireplace pieces. so long tree!
Those wedges are gorgeous. Except they also come with a "Lisa you can't wear these" warning on the box with a picture of me flat on my ass looking like a twisted pretzel.
Don't do a vlog - keep the "mystique!" ;o)
The red wine brisket sounds amazing! I love brisket, but have never attempted to make it at home. I might have to do that soon. This post describes exactly how I'm feeling right now. Sad to give up the never ending supply of holiday junk food (which I still haven't parted with and have probably gained about 40 pounds by now), tired of grey and black, wishing it were warm outside, etc. Spring, where are you?? Speaking of gaining 40 pounds, your comment about the lapband cracked me up. I might need that soon if I keep eating this avalanche bark every day. Unfortunately Gabe doesn't do those, but maybe he has a friend who does? I hope I can turn things around so I don't have to find out. Haha.

Oh, Carrie, you can do it! I have all the faith in you. But I say the longer you can put it off with that insanely-delectable-sounding brisket, chocolate, and those killer shoes, the better. Good luck, gorgeous!

hey - removing ornaments takes a lot of time! I always do that on a seperate night. you'd rock those shoes. I'd fall on my face.
Dinner sounds good :) Those shoes are beautiful! XOXO
Good luck with the tree tear down - it's always an ordeal at my place too. And, my god, those wedges are amaze balls! All I can think is "get out of my dreams and on to my feet" (and now I'll be humming that tune all afternoon).

what an amazing shoe! although, I surely would fall flat on my face if I wore it!
accepting that the holidays are over can be rough. I just dumped the last three blocks of gifted fudge and a box of SEES into the trash last night. I know I can't say no to all that chocolate!
Those wedges would tooootally suit you!!! They need to get back in stock ahaha...
Here my bf takes the tree down, always. He never waits too long. If I would let him, he would do it on Dezember 30 already. Men! So, wow, respect, you´ve been waiting for quite long :)

Holy gorgeous shade of perfect with everything pink. For the sake of my budget I will just assume when say sold out in your size that your size in an 8.5. Therefore, no need for me to even try. My next car payment thanks you for pretending :)
lol. it's a start though!
i have a 2ft tall tree in my office here. i stare at it everyday. for roughly 8 hours. and i still haven't taken it down. the thought occurs to me every so often, but alas, there it stands.
i am definitely falling into the post holiday blaaahs.
OOohhh I would love some of that red wine brisket....Sounds delicious:) hugs and kisses and see you later, sweetie
Oh I ripped the tree down promptly on New Years Day. As soon as Christmas is over I basically can't stand to look at it, you might say I experience post-holiday blues. A pretty severe case of them actually, and I don't need that darn tree mocking me with its twinkly branches when it knows well and good that happy days are over, waaaaaah.
And those shoes are completely amazing, but I KNOW I would fall on my face within the first five minutes of wearing them.
i dont know if i could wear these successfully but i'd looooove to try..
So the tree saga continues...
As I was reading your post, the thought of a brisket is making me incredibly hungry.
Is the Chef going to cook again for part 2 of this event?
shopbop has got the best selection and yes, L.A.M.B. shoes are all that always!
Same here.. i still have my x-mas tree up! :O and it is gonna stay there for another weekend since i'm going out of town and won't have the time to take it down! LOL Nice shoes.
Peace & Love

OK, first you made me hungry with the delicious meal Chef cooked for you and then you show me the stunning shoes? Aaaah, what am I going to do with you? :) xoxo
YEa...its always so sad when you take down the tree, there's just a huge hole full of sadness, haha. On the plus side, those wedges are AWESOME :D
http://aclosetfashionista.blogspot.com/
haha those are cute!! Dinner sounds AMAZING.. I'm sure the tree will continue coming down slowly, but surely ;)
I hate taking the Christmas tree down too. It's depressing. Even more depressing when you live in Alberta because it's January and it's gonna be a loooong winter.
I could totally see you in those shoes!
Okay, one... Those wedges are AMAZING.
And two... That brisket sounds sooooo good!
Taking down the Christmas decorations is such a pain. Plus, I never want the holiday to end. Lol! But it has to be done, I suppose. I just took the tree at my work down this week. Artificial though. The only mess that it created was a big pile of glitter it left all over the floor. (Maybe purchasing a white tree covered in glitter wasn't the BEST idea...)
I'm super lazy with christmas tree, can't we just leave it up ready for this year? :P
Shoes = love!
L x
uh Rachel, did you just say white glittery tree? that is so Mariah Carey and I wish you had a pic!! Is there any glitter left on the floor? Anything? Anything??
Ornaments are the biggest part of tree removal :) I like these but would never be able to wear them, it would be hazardous to all little kids and small animals that walked around me!!!
Those shoes are divine. So, I finally dragged my tree outside last night around 11 pm . . . because my friend told me that this week is the last that the garbage people will take your tree away, and garbage day is today on my street. I needed a threat to take it down. Now I'm suffering from both post-tree depression AND pine needles ALL OVER MY HOUSE (vacuum basically did nothing).
LAMB is makin' some SUPER RADDDDDDDDD shoes...just lovin' these....thank gawd they are sold out in my size too!!!!!!!!! phew
kisses

PS. Incase you didn't hear, Glassybaby's having a seconds sale(if you live in Seattle) on January 22 @ 10($26 each). Good opportunity to pick up a little something for yourself!
My tree is still up, but not for too much longer - you are further along than I!
Brisket didn't happen unless there are photos!!
Have a good night C and Mazel Tov on 600!
Megan thx so much for thinking of me. I'm now in SoCal, but going to see if one of my friends might go for me (us?-hehe)
Your writing style is killer!!...and my tree is still up, haha. Honestly putting all the ornaments away is exhausting-agreeded. heh
Hope your having a lovely week thus far beautiful :)
That red wine brisket made by The Chef sounds Yum! Caitlyn is sky high, isn't she? Love her!! XX
Those shoes rock! I didn't even put up a tree this year because I'm too lazy to set it up and take it down! That and last year my cats would jump up on it and swing around knocking it down at 3 am!
Those wedges are insane and spectacular. They're reminding me of the McQueens I'm lusting over - slightly impractical but practically perfect.
Oh! How I've missed you! I love that when I am finally able to hop onto this online life I miss so much, I find that you're still back in Xmas with the tree. It makes me feel like I haven't missed that much after all. A girl can deceive herself if it makes her feel better!!!!
That brisket sounds right up my alley too. Especially since I'm seeking iron like a missile that seeks heat seeks heat.
Big hugs to you dear!!! xoxoxox

I don't think there's any rush to take down the tree. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. (I am so lazy and will take any opportunity to encourage others to come down to my lazy level!)
I need to find me a chef. Pronto.
Have I mentioned that aside from my love for shoes, I have the love for brisket? Lame I know! But they so melt in your mouth!
Mmmmmm red wine infused anything and I am all about it.
Those shoes look fabulous. Did you get snow? Maybe they'll go on sale when the weather gets better :)
I keep seeing these wedges everywhere. I would fall flat on my face in these but they are so cute.

Ornaments = Progress, don't sell yourself short! Haha ;)
Those wedges are perfection. I might have to save up for a pair.
I felt the same way about the tree - we were in the midst of taking things down, removed the ornaments first, and then suddenly hubby unplugs the lights and the whole room seemed less cozy. So sad. Chef's brisket might have made things better :)
yummy about the brisket AND the shoes!!!!!!
I love the way you live, I love the way you write, I love the fashion finds you find and I hope you have a lovely weekend!! XO
OK, I'm back. I had to after reading your comment on someones blog about your womb NOT aching for kids. That was SO stinking funny. My bed mattress is shaking and I'm trying not to wake up my husband right now with my giggles. THAT topped off my blogging night perfectly. Mwah! XO
oh that was me and my womb over at Claire's. i might be a party of one, but it's still a party! ahahaha!!
Those are amazing - I'm in shoe love.
