Wills and Kate in Canada!

Wow I totally sucked it at blogging this week.  Woops!

Working at home is great and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but disconnecting can be tough.  In my regular day-to-day there's not usually much time to just be.  Do you know what I mean?  Sometimes I'll be going, going, going and I think to myself, "Hmmm I wonder what it's like to have the time to watch tv or read a book in the middle of the day?" This week I let myself do both those things and more, and it was awesome.  No matter how many times someone tried to suck me into work I just didn't let myself do it.  With the exception of a few calls I managed to let myself experience being relaxed at home with no set agenda.  Do you know how terrific it is to just sit down in the early afternoon and randomly watch, say, Paper Heart?  I sure hope you do.  It's as good as a vacation!

So anyway, along the way I managed to get into my closets and set some items aside for a blog sale but instead of doing that post today decided to hold out until next week.  William and Kate spent yesterday in Calgary, Alberta which is very close to where I grew up and where my brother and his family live today.  I'm so bummed that I'm not at home to see all the coverage of their visit.  Look at these wonderful pictures of the two of them upon arrival being greeted by a little girl battling cancer--they made her wish come true through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  I've got to confess:  I cried a little -- you can't fake genuine kindness and these two are chock full of it.  See the full story here.

I guess I'm feeling a bit homesick today.  Okay quite a bit homesick.  I've got to stop watching Anne of Green Gables so much.

But at least the weekend is here and you know what that means, right? Two more days of doing nothing much.  I don't know about you, but I'm totally ready to get busy doing nothing.  I have Big Brother on dvr and it's  rarin' to go.  Woot!  Have a great weekend everyone!

These are things I need to remember to do. Stop, relax, and just enjoy. Shouldn't be so hard.

It makes me totally chill out and not be such a maniac. Then I see pictures like Wills & Kate and cry my eyes out. Most times I'd just scream "Must be nice to fly around in fancy clothes making wishes come true!!"

I really don't like being like that.

This was a great week!

Oh those too exude everything good! Love them.
And it must be glorious to work from home. But, I do know what you mean by how easy it is to just be doing doing doing and not rest. I can never seem to find the balance of work and rest.
And I hope you find what path you want to go on. I really need to start new paths in certain areas of my life. It's one of those things when you just know it's time...

Every time I think how hard it would be to marry into the royal family I also think about the opportunities Kate has to bring joy and comfort to the people she visits with.

Sometimes a little break during the day is all you need to recharge... and maybe a little royal couple watching, too :) I didn't know about the Make-A-Wish story, that is so sweet!

I started crying when that little girl saw Kate and ran to her to give her a big hug it was the most precious thing ever.

Aww Carrie, I'm sorry you're so homesick : ( Will you get to visit your family this summer? I hope so. A trip home would be good for you! I saw these pictures earlier this morning and they warmed my heart, too. Will and Kate just seem like such genuine and caring people and I'm so proud and honored that they came to visit our country.

Hang in there Carrie! I hope you feel better soon.

Isn't it sad that we're always so "rush rush rush" during the week AND on the weekend?! I should really schedule a weekday for R&R. Or at least take time to myself on the weekend.

That couple is just too perfect. Sigh. And the little girl is darling!

Now you're making me homesick! My uncles and their kids all live in Calagry - I wish I could have watched all the Wills and Kate coverage with them!

I loved Anne of Green Gables!! I read the books and was so happy when it aired on PBS as a kid. :)

Enjoy those moments to yourself. Sometimes they can be the best thing for your mental health and have you working and feeling better afterwards.

oh good for you!! it's so hard to set those boundaries when your work space and your home space are one in the same. but we all need big breaks from work, so i'm glad you've been doing that. woohoo! also, william & kate will be in LA today and through the weekend. maybe they can bring you something from canada. :)

Anne of Green Gables! It's my all time favorite everything: crush, storyline, setting, characters. Sigh. I need to go watch some.

I adore Kate's dress by the way.

I've been obsessing over the Wills and Kate visit! Isn't that yellow dress simply perfection???

Yes it's always nice to work from home, and take a little break here and there. Just don't get so use to it because you will get sucked in and get waaaay too comfortable. Trust me - it's happen to me before. :)

I'm so impressed that you just took some time to yourself-we should all start doing that! This morning John and I had a leisurely breakfast and I got into the office at 10-I'm still relishing it!

Enjoy the weekend, the Big Brother and the inevitable cocktails!

dang it, these photos are making me sniffle. but it is nice to see that royalty can still be kind and sweet and caring. it helps to have one's faith restored in humanity, as we see so many damn stinkers in the media all of the time! urgh!

p.s. love anne of green gables. i think i need to watch it again since i haven't seen since i was a kid!

Oh my gosh, these photos! So sweet I almost teared up a little by the last one. Don't even get me started on Anne of Green Gables, my childhood friend..

Cheers to a weekend of more relaxing, Carrie!

Wow, those pictures actually just gave me the chills. What an amazing moment caught on camera.

Hope you have a relaxing weekend, Carrie! I'm actually about to go hit a few golf balls with my hubby. This should be funny...

Taking a vacay next month and can't wait to just chill and do nothing...sounds amazing!! And those pictures seriously just warmed my heart. Love. Her.

Hope you have a good weekend sister!

Technically, I just saw Kate but I did see Wills cowboy hat! They drove the parade route but were in a big car with just the windows down and were waving and I was on her side of the street. So she was kinda blocking Will :)

Agreed! They do seem like nice and genuine people who happen to be royalty. So sweet that the little girl's dream came true!

LOVE these photos, they're so awesome.
Have a great weekend.

So interesting that you're an Alberta girl..I'm in Calgary, such a small world :) Was that not the most amazing thing to see, I got caught up in all the royal excitement and wished I would have braved the 400,000+ crowds and gone to the parade today to try and see them in person ! On a completely opposite note, I am hoping you do a Big Brother recap too...can't wait to hear your thoughts after you watch the first jaw dropping episode.

How incredibly sweet. I think Kate is gorgeous. I'm going to have to check out the story.

To just be, how I miss this. Although today I made it my mission. Sure I still did chores, but I did it at my own pace, in between watching a little TV and cuddling with my little guys and I have to say we were all alot happier.

And Wills and Kate, now those are two very special people. Wills is the male version of Princess Di, such a sweet and gentle spirit with so much to give and it looks like Kate is much the same. What a lovely couple.

OK.... it's Saturday morning... I'm half way through my coffee... curled up on the couch with my two adopted kitties... my man is still sleeping... and I am FULLY TEARING UP reading this post. They are so sweet to go see this little girl. Now I am homesick too. I had a sister pass away from cancer when she was just two years old so this story hits pretty close for me.

Very true what you're saying to not "go go go" all the time- good words, love. Down time is super important.. especially for creative people.

Have an amazing weekend and don't watch Anne of Green Gables anymore! Hahaha. You're hilarious. Go see a movie, and eat an unhealthy amount of popcorn and ice cream! xoxooxo. Much love, babes.

You totally deserve it. I'm in the process of selling pretty much my entire wardrobe so I can afford Paris. Hope it's worth it!!
