Summer Days

Some new developments have taken place in my neck of the woods (ahem, concrete):  It appears as though  a civilized person has moved into the neighborhood.  A piano player with legitimate skills.  Can you imagine??  Just last night I turned down the volume on the television to take in a half hour of wonderful music.  My mother was right:  I do regret quitting after all those years of lessons.  Sigh.

Let me tell ya:  summer is in full swing over here.  Last year was such a letdown in the warm weather department it's tough not to want to be outside all day every day.  I don't know about you, but the days seem to be going by so fast I wish I could put it on pause.  Bright sunny mornings, light streaming in the windows in late afternoon, the sound of the ice cream truck, an endless supply of fruit--it's the simple things keeping me happy these days--including a relatively light workload that I'm pretty sure I should be freaking out about.  But then I smell someone bbq'ing...

With the Chef's change in schedule it appears as though 2013 will be the first time an evening date may re-occur.  Instead we're making time in the mornings once or twice a week to spend a few hours together.  One thing's certain--there's something delicious about being footloose and fancy free while everyone else is at work.  The other day we just grabbed tea and sat on the beach digging our toes in the warm sand.  It was wonderful.  More summer please.

This has pretty much become my uniform of choice this summer.
3x this week so far and don't even care.
Fringe + leather + lace + weathered shorts + piled jewelry and a cup of tea
Minimal makeup? Yep, sounds good to me.
~Outfit details:  H&M vest, James Perse tank, Current/Elliott Shorts, Thrifted Belt,
Brandy&Melville Bag, Rainbow flip flops, Anthro sunnies~

For the record that's not my piece of trash at the bottom of the stairs.
The earth is not a garbage can for pete's sake!  Off to read a book and delete all fall fashion emails.  Have a great Wednesday!

Ah, I see you are embracing summer!
It's raining here, but I love the rain as much as I adore the warm days of summer. Life seems to be bright and vibrant in your world;-)

'Cup' of tea? Looks more like a pail of tea!

So jealous of your good weather. Enjoy it!

Envy. The green kind. I feel it. Here there are beautiful mountains and wonderful lakes. And it's so hot you can cook on a car hood. Humid. Feels like 107 degrees. I just can't take enough clothes off to handle that. Envy.

Im dying for some warm sun, its so cold here. In other news I love your summery outfit, espeically your vest. I nearly died when I was in USA and discovered H&M why don't we have it here? Super super.

Oh I love that you got a pianist around, I love to have classical music around.
I gotta tell you, this outfit is just perfect, it's summery, it says Carrie all over it, and looks comfortable.

Summer finally arrived here to Carrie and it has been beautiful! Spending mornings with your man sounds perfect to me ~ then you can do all kinds of girlie things in the evening. Bravo for deleting those fall fashion emails. xo

I'm totally loving this look! I may have to dig out a pair of demin shorts and do it myself.
I love your beach, it looks so expansive. Mine is tiny!

I want to soalk in every moment of summer as well - who wants to hear about fall fashion when it's 85 and sunny?

Love the look and glad that you are enjoying your summer, even if Chef is working every night! Glad you have a new, civilized neighbor! We have a professional piano player that lives across from us, and I love listening to him play!

I'm so jealous of your mornings!! Tea on the beach definitely beats tea at the desk sitting in front of a computer!!

Although I do wish to pause summer for a little bit, I look forward to the fall. Strictly for the fashion and jacket weather.

Love the vintage-inspired lace vest..I'd wear that over everything!

Weirdly enough, it's been overcast here in the bay. I keep on thinking it may end up raining but it doesn't. Just a little chilly for July.

This reminds me, I'm needing a restful weekend away that involves coffee (instead of tea :) and morning walks on the beach.. soon!

gorgeous photos!! I love summer too, but it always goes so fast and I'm always worried about it going by too fast... but looks like you are enjoying it!

I so wish we would finish the bonus room and I could get a piano. One day, one day - probably years away but whatever. Love that you're wearing Rainbow flip flops. I live in mine in the summer.

I'm totally envious of your day dates-they sound amazing, and you get to wear the same thing to all of them. It's genius.

So glad you got a real person in the neighborhood, and even more so that you enjoy the music! Whenever John or I practice at home, I worry that I'm pissing everyone off...now I won't stress quite so much!

That looks like one gorgeous morning!!! And I'm loving your sunglasses. Mine just bit the dust so I am squinting while I try to find a pair I like. I know I should just buy any old cheapie pair just for the moment but I'm nuts like that. I'd rather squint than wear something I'm not jazzed about.

I'm still wondering when summer will actually hit the PNW...we get a few days of it, then rain and cold. :( I don't think i've been able to wear shorts all day just yet...

A pianist is just what you needed to calm the hood down! What a nice treat for you. And I am loving your casual chic outfit. Picked up a vest like that the other day at a store in my hood...Love it! xo

i'm so happy for you and the fact that you have summer! carrie, i often think about your summer last year, because i was reading it during crazy cold patagonian winter. and now i feel like i am living your last year's summer. it's cold. my skin hardly ever touches the sun. i don't know if it's where exactly we moved (lots of microclimates here), but this will be two years without a proper summer for me. say what?

enjoy your morning dates!!! you just look so healthy and peaceful!

That sounds lovely. We - up North - aren't having too much summer - the highs are mid-50's today. I'm envying your weather and ability to wear shorts, and am shivering a little in my cardigan.
Your lace top is so pretty, by the way. The outfit looks great.
