Guilty: Of Wearing Comfortable Clothing

Yesterday after the collective gasp and guttural screams commenced upon a 'not guilty' (still can't believe it) verdict being read in the Casey Anthony trial I curled up in the fetal and screamed, "Damn you OJ Simpson NOT AGAIN!!".

That's all I'm gonna say about that for 5 minutes.

Instinctively I wanted to get as far away from the television as possible.  What if Nancy Grace had a stroke and was no longer able to entertain me every day??  Strolling racing into my room I tossed on clothes that gave me comfort (like comfort food only in clothing form) and took to the beach to block it all out.  Fortunately I had spun by Brandy & Melville last week and hit the jackpot in the cotton department.  Seeing as we have been given an Ashley Bachelorette bye this week I took it upon myself to wear something reminiscent of her not wearing pants--although let the record show I had a one piece romper on beneath.  *oh no the google searches that are gonna come in off this one*  I have to say the grey maxi alone is likely to become a new go-to piece.
~Brandy and Melville-Top, Maxi and Fringe Bag, Free People Romper, Matt Bernson-Gladiators~
Doesn't count as a butt shot if you have a seamless romper on beneath.
Close-up on the accessories: Flea Market Turquoise (jackpot) cuff, Marc x Marc coil ring, and
the usual Bhati Beads, PANYC and Motif 56 bracelets.
Close-up on the shirt:  no-brainer with the fringe and Navajo-esque + Flashdance vibe.
I opted for overkill with the Dean Davidson turquoise and Melinda Maria link oxidized in gold.
silver + gold = a good thing in my opinion
Proof that you can't always see through the skirt, but even if you can there's a one piece romper
saving me from ho-ville.  The maxi would also be a fab beach cover-up.

As I'm glancing through the pictures I realize I've committed the cardinal sin of fashion:  I've worn an outfit of almost entirely one brand--except the romper and the shoes.  Oh well, I guess I'll live.  It all worked together and if the fashion police try to haul me over I'll just avoid them for 31 days and then make up piles and piles and piles of lies to get off scott free.  Seemed to work just marvelously yesterday.   *slap, slap, slap infinity*

I don't know much about the case, other than reading headlines on People.com but how did that kid get a not guilty verdict?

All that besides, the skirt is very Lady Di! You know the picture of her as a 19-year-old, holding a baby on her hip and the sunlight pouring through the thin fabric of her skirt? Lady Di, Carrie. Lady Di.

I freaking love the turquoise! I've been on an huge turquoise kick the past week. My pinterest boards are suddenly full of bright walls and I'm fighting the urge to paint my bedroom. The jewels are probably way less of a commitment.

Gorgeoud outfit, you look ridiculously comfortable and the all fringe is lush.

I've watched the case a little on youtube but it would probably be easier to follow if there were highlights and breakdowns on the news (which there isn't in the UK). Most of my American friends believe she did it, but of course when a jury returns a not guilty verdict it doesn't necessarily mean they believe the accused is innocent entirely, only that they can't believe it happened in the way the court has presented it. It's a fucked up system. Prosaic to say that, but true.

I love the outfit. The whole thing. Especially the top. And I love that you can throw something on and go to the beach, that easily.

I think the legal system allowed someone to skate on the Anthony case. Fortunately for the killer, the evidence had disappeared with time. But I think there should be some punishment for the way that woman acted after her child disappeared. I guess I hope she can never have another one. That sounds mean but I think she is too self-centered to be a good mother.

The outfit works for me ... love it head to toe!!! Specially with the ease you wear it.

I want this whole outfit - loving the gauziness of the skirt...and nay-sayers can go away a little skin never hurt anyone one.

And I am stunned as well. I didn't follow the case nor get caught up in hoopla, but it doesn't make any sense and the poor baby! :(

Carrie, you wear this look so well. I am in love with the bracelet and ring. xo

I was in shock over the case, too. I really have nothing more to say on that because it just makes my blood boil, but your outfit does wonders for calming that situation down! I love the maxi (good call on the romper) and the whole boho-breezy nature of the outfit :)

That verdict was pretty shocking, but after watching some of the highlights from the trial on Saturday, I can't say I'm entirely surprised. That defense attorney did a pretty decent job, even if he's a scumbag. :) Anyway, love your outfit (as usual)! I've worn ensembles made up of almost entirely one brand, so don't feel bad!

That bracelet is just utter fabulousness. Wow, it's the mother of flea market finds!! I seriously hope you are wearing that with everything you own! In fact I think I would never take it off!!

That woman is going to have a rough life ahead of her since I think about 90% of the population thinks she did it - even if there wasn't enough evidence for a conviction. That's the only thing that makes me feel better.

I LOVE your outfit. And if the fashion police come for you, I'll testify on your behalf.

Ok I think I've been trying to comment for about 2 hours and now I have no idea what I was going to say. It's apparently one of those days again. Oh, re: the Surf Spray, Charli said to spray it on damp hair, then scrunch and dry with a diffuser. That seems to be working good so far. I'm still playing around with it.

Oh, how I needed a little faux Bachelorette in my life-this is genius! As for the cardinal sin of single brand-dom, John and I did it TOGETHER the other day. I couldn't imagine anything worse, and he looked at me like I had two heads. I guess there are some things men just don't appreciate.

Ugh, I feel sick that she got away with murder. Literally. It's really disheartening. On a lighter note, that breezy skirt helps soften the day for sure. XX

You look great in this, even if it looks like your semi-naked. That skirt looks like it would be so comfy in the hot summer heat. You better watch out for the fashion police, they can be pretty intense.

I haven't heard much about the trial over here, but what I have heard I have not liked.

Seriously, how unbelievable was the Casey Anthony trial?! Unreal. I heard Kim Kardashian tweeted, "Casey Anthony found not guilty!! I am speechless!" And someone tweeted back "So was Nicole Simpson's family when your dad got OJ off. "
I wonder if she was speechless... again.. :/

Your post is hilarious!! I love a good sense of humor.

p.s. your outfit is amazing and I need to have it. :)

p.s.s thanks for visiting my blog.

I have worn outfits of the same designer before. It's okay. I choose to ignore this rule whenever I get the chance. It makes me feel like a rebel.
I LOVE this top. The shredded sleeves are amazing.
And you are gorgeous in a ponytail.

Love those sandals! I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't think I know enough about the case to argue, but I feel like the fact that she didn't tell anyone her child was missing for 31 days is enough to lock her away.

You pull this off so well, for those of not quite as 'sleek' as you I'm afraid it might come off as 'what is she hiding'. And in the words of Nancy, yes somewhere the devil was dancing that night...such a tragedy.
