Shop At Your Own Risk: Tucker For Target Part 2

With the exception of Sunday morning, my weekend was pretty much perfect.  Fall has definitely arrived here at the beach and it was so nice to huddle under the covers, drink hot tea and take walks in oversized sweaters and leggings.  I went to bed on Saturday evening really excited to wake up on Sunday morning and check out the release of Tucker for Target at a local store.

Instead I walked in at 8:10AM and was greeted by a stampede of women who had been possessed by wild animals.  Within moments I witnessed an older woman, shopping for her daughter, have an item ripped from her grasp while she stood there stunned.  At that point I knew it was on.  I managed to find ONE item left in my size and entered the fitting room only to find a group of approximately 5 rabid hyenas who had literally stripped the entire Tucker section of almost every single item.  The Target girls were not prepared for this display of ill-behavior and were clearly mortified as several of us late by 10 minute arrivers requested only to try on an item or two, while the others flat out refused to share anything as they snickered holding a full size run of XS - XL in all but two items.  It was absolutely disgusting to see mid-20's through mid 40's women behave like that.  So much that I turned and walked out.

I ended up visiting a total of 5 Target stores where I eventually managed to find several items in my size and, thanks to my first couple of experiences, was particularly sensitive to leave a full size run on the racks for others!!!  (Are you reading this all of you in Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach?? UGH!).  While the morning left me weary, I am pleased with the items I did find.  My most favorite by far is the Persian Bomber Jacket.  When we walked up the street to grab a bite tonight I seized the cool evening as my first opportunity to wear it.

 Here's a full outfit picture.
 Here's a better close-up of the jacket.
It's kind of furry and super soft.
Look at the lining!  It's adorable.  This picture does not do it justice.
This one's a little better.
I tossed the jacket on over a Tucker for Target Butterfly Cami,
a pair of boyfriend shorts
and some cozy charcoal grey tights.
It got dark so quickly today.
I guess our light-filled evenings are drawing to a close.

I'd love to know what your experiences were if you visited a Target on Sunday.  I found the collection itself to be extremely tasteful and very representative of Gaby.  She is such a colorful, eclectic person who seems to understand what women want in terms of fit and variety.  I really enjoyed seeing how her usual use of silk and linen translated into the fabrics she was able to bring to the table for her Target collaboration.  I found the items to be fun and well-fitting, and look forward to mixing some of the pieces into my fall/winter wardrobe.

Outfit Details:  Tucker for Target - Persian Bomber Jacket and Butterfly Camisole, Current/Elliott - Boyfriend Shorts, Banana Republic - Charcoal Ribbed Tights, PANYC - Belt, Mike & Chris - Booties, Foley + Corinna - Mid City Tote.

I can't understand that kind of behaviour at all. I get that people like designer pieces at Target prices, but seriously? Have some self-respect, ladies!

I love your outfit, especially the cami. It's gorgeous.

amen! it was appalling and kind of stomach turning if you want the truth. i mean really? really?? 8am and over 100 pieces of clothing divided up between 5 women? it was sickening.

re: the collection - it's very well-done and the cami is great. wish the jacket pictures turned out better, but i'll be wearing it again so it'll pop up here and there. it's superb!!

I'm interested to see this collection - if anything is left! I endured the madness of the Cynthia Vincent for Target line and it made me want to hurt myself!

Thank you so much for all your kindness and for being there. I love you too and the support right now means more than I can say.

I so agree with what you and Annelise said...Its incredible that people behave that way...Glad that in the ned you found a few items in you size...I am planning to check it out too...But now I am scared...haha:)
Hugs and kisses,sweetie
Hope to see you soon...Have a great Monday

I cannot believe how some people behave! That is so upsetting, especially with regard to the older woman. Yeesh. Good for you for walking away. Your clothes are amazing- I can't wait to see the line!

Wow...thats amazing that people can act that way....truly.....I went to my Target on Friday night to look at the John Derian Collection ....all they had was stationery?? uggh...I questioned the employee...they said they had it all in the back..not even out of boxes yet....

I can't believe your Target was such a zoo. Like I already mentioned, mine was dead and I was the only person geeking out over each piece. I didn't try on either of the ones you're wearing. They look so much cuter on you than they did the hanger, though.

I picked up this blouse: http://www.target.com/Tucker-Target-Signature-Blouse-Mosaic/dp/B003V6CA9Y/ref=sc_qi_collection_item_0?ie=UTF8&altString=Tucker%20for%20Target%26%23174%3B%20Signature%20Blouse%20in%20Mosaic%20Print

I'm planning on going back for the purple floral version today after work.

That jacket is pretty great, and the lining is beautiful! I'm such a sucker for details like that. Great finds . . . even though you had to weather the storm at the first Target. Crazies!

Ooo I love what you picked up from Target. We don't have a Target here on Maui. :( Sad huh. I really LOVE the Signature Dress in Diamond Print from the Tucker line. I want it soooooooooooo bad. Why oh why Target! Come to Maui.

I never thought I'd enjoy reading someones shopping adventures so much...I thought I could only really go into a store and shop my self...but I gotta say, I'm pretty content sitting here reading about it instead...especially since I wouldn't want to have to fight for anything with rabid hyenas haha. too funny

The Target I went to didn't even have it out yet and had no clue what I was talking about...even though online said that store would have it *Rolls eyes* But YAY for getting stuff! :D

I totally forgot this line was out yesterday at Target! I may have to take a trip this week! I don't think the demand for Tucker is very high at my Target though when the Zac Posen line came out they still had a ton of it like 2 weeks after it came out.

I hit up three Targets before I even found it. The first one had no idea what I was talking about. Arrrggghhhh!!! Like a previous post said, I was the only one looking at it, and ended up only getting one bouse (on zee blog today). I couldn't find the entire line, so i'm checking a few more local Tar-jays todaaaaay. Wish me luck...

Awesome jacket, it looks super comfy and stylish too!! I adore the butterfly shirt you are wearing, and who doesn't luv short-shorts?!

I have only been cross-border shopping at Target once, I couldn't believe the affordable and trendy selections!! Must go again soon... ;)

PS damn those Tuckers Target shoppers!! I would have walked out too. Glad you were able to score some fabulous finds at another location.

This is such a comfy outfit, I love it! Especially the lining of the jacket, I love it when there's an extra something bout the lining! I always end up buying it for that sole reason:)

That Persian jacket is amazing (despite the crazy store madness!). Pretty jacket linings are the best :)

PS. I love your charcoal tights - hooray for fall!

REally? Its target ladies! I understand the desire for designer items at target prices but do we need to be attacking older woman?

Hmm it does make me curious tho. Love your tank.

I lucked out and stumbled upon the Tucker collection on Saturday at my local Target (Mission Viejo). They're remodeling the store and it was all sort of jammed in a corner so I don't think anyone knew it was there yet. I scored the orchid print dress but had to order the butterfly cami and the purple dress online. They were up on the Target site at midnight (and shipping was free!). Love your outfit and now thinking I need the jacket! Great collection!

Honestly, I was expecting to see the mob shoppers that you experienced, but that was not the case at all. I had to go to two Target stores like some others said. It turns out not all Target stores carry the GoInternational lines. There was one other woman shopping the Tucker section with me and we were both very excited. I tried on all sorts of pieces and ended up with several dresses and tops. I looked at the bomber jacket you got for quite some time....now, seeing you in it, I might have to go back and get it too! =)

omg what some people will do for what they want huh? That's nuts. I didn't happen to stop by target out here.. Kinda glad now lol. Well luckily you found some cute stuff at a non-violent store=) That jacket is FAB!

Marie a la Mode said...

Wow! You went to FIVE different Target stores? That's hardcore! This post reminded me of the time my mom, brother and I waited outside of Zellers when I was 8 years old so that I could get a Barbie and he could get a Nintendo game that was sure to sell out within minutes. My brother was pushed by a 40 year-old man. I wanted to kick him (the man, not my brother) but he was bigger than me so I laid off. Some PEOPLE! Grrrr. Glad you were able to find some pieces! That bomber jacket is gorge!

Josie said...

GORGEOUS! I got lucky enough to find an adorable Tucker for Target dress online, since getting to Target when I'm at school is a bit of a production. Sorry, though, to hear about the crazy girls... People get just the slightest bit too desperate, honestly.

Great jacket, but the Target experience doesn't sound very fun at all! It sounds like Primark here in the UK, always manic and overrun by "rabid hyenas" :P Luckily I don't have to deal with that because I don't agree with their business ethics, so I don't shop there!

Brianna said...

Oh you make me laugh. This reminds me of my story about the lands end sale. I had to work all day yesterday but, generally speaking, there aren't hordes of people waiting around here for the designer collaborations. Thank God. I get a little testy when I'm getting pushed around. :P

I love the jacket by the way! I want one :)

Aggravated Mayhem?
I have never gone to a Target in search of one of their designer discount lines. And there is no way I would ever get anything even if I did, because I don't (can't, won't?) leave the house before 10 am on a weekend. So by the time I got there I'm sure the only things left would be shredded on the floor, the remains of an earlier attempt at a snatch and grab.

The jacket you ended up with is really cute, and I'm glad to hear the collection was at least worth fighting over (I think?). Hope you have a nice relaxing Monday anyway!

Eww! How RUDE!! I would've left too. Inconsiderate people are one of my biggest pet peeves. Glad you managed to snag yourself a few cool pieces despite the hyenas haha Love the outfit you put together! Esp. your summer shorts transitioned into Fall with legwear!

Editor said...

I can't believe that people acted that way! It's like a bloodsport! I like the jacket, too but I didn't get it because I know I won't wear it- I have 2 other motorcycle style jackets in my closet, and they never get worn.

I bought 3 dresses and a blouse online. I think that's the best way to go. Shipping is free, they had everything and no crazies to deal with :)

Amen Mother of Style!! Amen!! I got a few dresses too, but seeing as I already got 2 off of Gilt there's gonna be some return-o-rama taking place over here. Show us some pics lady!!

I'm curious as to which Target has such greedy and ill-behaved customers - I used to live in OC and shop at various ones in the area. Luckily my Target was a ghost town on late Sunday morning when I went to shop the line. I also thought the bomber jacket was the hit of the collection, and took it home with me. Here is a link to my review with fitting room photos:

I love how you paired the camisole and jacket, it looks so chic.

I love love love this jacket!! I saw an add for Tucker in a magazine while I was traveling and totally thought of you!

Thank you so much for your sweet comment. No, I'm not going to move closer before he gets deployed. He travels so much for his job that there really is no point. So for now we are just trying to spend as much time as we can together until he goes. I think I am actually headed back to DC next week again (sigh) It's totally frustrating, but not much I can do...
Anyway back to blogging!
Oh and BTW are you in LA? I'm in Redondo Beach so I was curious...

I was shopping online tonight and it looks like Tucker has restocked a lot of their apparel on Target's website - not sure how long that will last though!!
