Field of Fall Fashion

This past week in Canada has been a whirlwind of trampoline jumping, snack eating, hot tubbing, first day of schooling, game playing, fort building, and hugs with my niece and nephew.  In between all of these things, as I mentioned in the last post, the Chef and I managed to sneak out and take in some of Calgary's shopping including Holt Renfrew, Aritzia, and Club Monaco.  Yesterday after dropping my niece off for her first day of kindergarten *and subsequently crying with her mom on the way to the car, all the way back home, and for more than a few minutes upon our return - to be honest I think I might cry all year at the thought of her skinny little legs walking around the corner to the classroom all by herself* the Chef and I wandered outside and grabbed some photos on what turned out to be a quintessential Canadian fall day.

I was so excited to be able to pull out my over the knee socks...
and really have the weather to wear them in.
The military boots and bag brought the whole look together.
Once again the bubble skirt came to the rescue.
This time with a cashmere sweater from Club Monaco
that I cinched at the waist with a weathered belt from J.Crew (seen here).
I wonder if J.Crew ever thought their skirt would end up in a barley field?
I hope it gets cool enough to wear this outfit in Southern California.
The sad thing is this pretty girl next to me won't be there
to hang out after school.
Bye Canada - see ya next time.

Outfit details:  Club Monaco Cashmere Sweater, Gap Camis, J, Crew Belt, J.Crew Chino Bubble Skirt, Falke OTK Striggings, Joie Military Boots,  TK Military Bag, Melinda Maria Jewelry

So jealous of you and your fall clothes! I'd start pulling mine out but the heat stroke might get to me. Lovely outfit though. Ease back into reality - it can be rough!

That bubble skirt is so cute! And I love the over the knee socks - I've been trying to wear them lately, too, except I do feel a bit silly in them sometimes!

I love this outfit, Carrie! Your niece is adorable.. I totally get the whole crying episode. First time I dropped Jordan off at preschool the teacher was hugging him as he cried and there was another teacher comforting me in the hall as I cried! I am loving that sweater & the J. Crew belt. Do the over the knee socks stay up? xo

Oh, it's so heartbreaking to hear about your niece's first day at school! I hope the fear subsides and she starts to enjoy it soon.

I just adore your outfit. Yesterday was the first day I was able to wear tights this season - fall is definitely here!

Love the over the knee socks! Been lusting after these lately! Mr. Deer just saw on FB that Slayer is playing in LA, and you can win a trip (how he had this in his feed I shudder to think!). But we should enter, and if we win the trip, we can visit, woo hoo! XX!

I seriously need to learn how to belt. I think it doesn't work because I have no boobs.

I don't even want to think about my sweet little Nephew going to school. Good thing we're years away from that!

Oh sweetie I'm so jealous of your outfits. I wish I could wear stuff like this. Oh, I wonder what our neighbors are sporting now? My crazy neighbor is sporting a G.I. Jane. She is bald. I have no idea why she's bald but she was out of her house for about 2 weeks, maybe she was sent to the psychiatrist or something.

Love the dark grey idea, I have like 3 shades of grey samples, and I really like them - but I'm afraid the dark ones won't be neutral enough. We really want it to be mass appealing. What do you think?

omg i was so beat from playing non-stop w/a four year old for 5 days straight that i could not believe how great the pictures turned out. i give the barley field all the credit - it has singlehandedly proven how a setting can detract from the look of exhaustion! haha

ps - copy away lady!! i totally thought of you when i put those socks inside the boots. i'm wearing this outfit again - so fun!
