Falling Into Fur

Fall fashion is in full force and I've been having so much fun checking out your wish lists and swooning over the fabulous items you've been thinking about.  The other day Alicia at Cheetah is the New Black caused my eyes to well up when she wore her fabulous fur vest.  I haven't compiled an entire wish list for fall because, well, I don't really have to.  Fur is basically it.  All of it.  Yes, the entire list.  Faux fur is the way I go and not just because of budget...it all stems back to the time I rescued a rabbit from a daycare and it became my pet for reals (but that's another story for another time).  Last year I picked up an adorable fur vest and jacket from Juicy Couture, and then it rained so much in Southern California I couldn't even wear them (suffice it to say soggy faux fur is not the new black).  In hindsight I'm kind of grateful because I feel like I've got a bit of a headstart in the fur department for this season.  There's so much out there to choose from I thought I'd pick some of my latest favorites and share them with you.  One thing is for certain - fur is a major part of this fall's top picks.  I found it on handbags, boots, collars, entire coats, gloves, hats, and the list goes on.  I even found this Cat in the Hood Hat over at Modcloth - um, kinda want it.  Badly.

How are you feeling about the fur/faux fur trend?  Are you planning on incorporating it, or simply admiring it from afar? Perhaps you even dislike it *say it isn't so!*

I'm loving fur this year (and last year ... and the year before that...) Have you seen this piece: http://us.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=33060&storeId=13052&categoryId=209870&parent_category_rn=208640&productId=1944204&langId=-1&siteID=J84DHJLQkR4-8gZdpSBqQBtTRSvyecE06A&cmpid=usls_deeplink&_$ja=tsid:19905 - Need. Seriously.

Last year I committed a major fashion sin and purchased a rabbit fur scarf (terrible because I also had a pet bunny growing up). But I will say that it's the warmest scarf I've ever owned and in a Wisconsin winter, it does become practical.

(Oh, to answer your question re: the under $20 finds, I have a few go-to stores to search quick, otherwise, I use those fashion search engines like ShopStyle. They take so long to compile that I couldn't bear going to each store one at a time!)

My mom has a fur vest that is the most amazing thing ever, so plan on me being one of those daughters who ends up dressing just like her mom.

PS - sorry to hear about your jewelry, I can lend to my car for destruction of her sunglasses if need be :)

Yes, yes & yes!! I have a thing for fur... furry dogs, furry clothes... (furry men... not so much)! I have been wearing a Michael Kors coat I got at TJ Maxx w/ a faux fur collar that is not falling off, I had to pin it on because I don't want to part with it. Perhaps, I will get a new coat for my bday! xo

Faux fur is definitely a fall and winter staple. I have a coat I bought at H & M last year that I hope to wear again in the next few months since I think I only wore it once or twice last year! Great post!

I am all about the faux fur trend! I just crave that touch of luxury. I went to the garment district in LA a couple weekends ago and spent a good deal of time hunting down the perfect faux fur fabric so I can make my own vest. We shall see how it turns out, maybe I'll post it on my blog when I'm done, lol.

everyone makes their buttons differently. i havent made mine yet, but my plan is to just integrate the image and the text using a word editor like microsoft word, and print screening the image.

blogger makes the linking part easy because you can add a picture to your sidebar, and you have the option to customize the link.

sometimes, you can just go on google image search, and the perfect image representation of your blog pops up :]

i found the perfect one for your blog! :]
it can be found: http://yfrog.com/6ethisfreebirdj

tell me if you want me to use that one to link you on my sidebar :)

if you need help trying to customize your own, let me know.

much love,

Ohmigosh I am a faux fur addict, Carrie! I almost bought a leopard frint faux fur jacket at Target last year. Every single time I tried it on I felt like Edie Sedgwick. Sadly, I never purchased...this year, I most definitely will! Love, need, want...faux fur!! :)

Girrrl I am all over it! so glamorous and lux for fall/winter. I have this capelet that I got at H&M last winter that I can't wait to rock!
p.s. so I went to Target and mine had lots of tucker, but I tried on 2 dresses and I just wasn't in love with the material. I'm still debating on the butterfly dress. It's cute...hugs

I will definitely be incorporating some faux fur pieces into my wardrobe. It's just too glamorous not to own a couple of fur pieces!

I found a darling faux fur leopard print cropped jacket last year, and I LOVE it! Everyone should own at least one fur piece, in my humble opinion :)

Happy Wednesday, sweet friend! xoxo

I think I will have to admire it from afar. Not because I don't like it, but because I don't think I can pull it off that well. I like the cheetah print coat you have picked out here. Pure fab!

I'm loving the fur - I really want to try a fur vest this year, but I'm not sure I could pull it off. I need to find a cheap one so I can wear it once and try it out - and if I get odd looks and stifled giggles behind hands, at least I can donate it to Goodwill and not be upset about it. :)

I keep seeing fur everywhere, it's true! But I gotta say, I'm so not into it. ;) Totally with you on the go-faux-if-you're-gonna-go-fur, but it's definitely not my style either way. I do like seeing your picks, though!

I am so with you on wanting to wear lots of fur this winter/fall! I love every single item you posted. I'm trying so hard to do the same thing as you this season though. Buy a few small things to get me through and avoid a new Fall wardrobe splurge. But it's so rough, Carrie. I was just at Target and thought of you because all the Tucker stuff there is AMAZING! Definitely the best collaboration I've seen at Target so far. I broke down and bought a dress! But mark my words, that's the end of it for me (I found my brown booties and mustard tights last night). We can do this if we stick together through the rough patches. My first rough patch came when I just saw your fur montage.

Fur side note - I have a fabulous black rabbit fur (sorry!) crop jacket that my dad gave my mom their first Christmas together. (over 30 years ago) Not only is it sentimental, it's also the most amazing piece in my closet but I'm terrified to wear for fear of someone throwing red paint on me!!
