Simple Saturday

Sticking with her usual patterns, Mother Nature tossed out something just shy of a scorcher this weekend in Southern California.  Yes I realize waxing on about the weather is so blah-de-blah, but guess what?  It's bloody fall, bloggers are donning fur and sweaters as we speak, and there is simply no way in the name of perspiring underarms that I'm about to get in on that game.  Instead I spent Saturday morning staring blindly into my closet trying to come up with something other than shorts to wear.  Refusing to get into an outfit frenzy--you know the ones where half the closet goes flying around the room don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about--I spotted my favorite shoes, quickly tossed on a pair of jeans and a blouse that's never made it onto the blog.  Goal:  Don't over think it or it'll be 5pm before you know it.

Upon emerging from the house I was hit with a wave of heat that almost had me spin on my heel and head back inside, but margaritas were calling and there was no time to delay.  I managed to grab my camera on the way out the door, but as fate aka Instagram would have it the battery was left in the charger.  Niiiiice.  This evening I contemplated renaming the blog:   My Life On Instagram.  Has a little ring to it, don't you think?
Outfit:  Zara-Blouse, Current/Elliott-Boyfriend Jeans, Gap-Cami
Dulce-Clogs seen here and here aka good old daysSorial-Bag

Have you ever bought something, wondered if you'll ever wear it and then it turns out to
rescue you from wardrobe block on a regular basis?  For me that is this Zara Blouse.
So happy I didn't leave it behind.  Now need a couple more just like it...
These shoes get so much wear in my day to day life.
The company closed and I've regretted not getting a second pair almost every day since.
*Insert rationing the shoes here*
Nothing like a cold margarita on a hot day.  And yes we were able to sit outside.
It was bloody 85 degrees in the middle of the afternoon!

Anyway, I am looking for some sort of jolt to the closet because trying to get my fall on in summer weather is basically a drag.  I wake up in the morning, think about a light sweater and then laugh at myself as the sun beams through the window giving my arm a tan.  Good luck with that one, Carrie!  Shortly after margaritas I spent some time window shopping and left feeling somewhat deflated.  Is it me or does everything kind of look the same right now?  It's that whole 80's thing yawwwwn.  I saw some little kid in a pair of neon pink socks and a green neon skirt.  It took everything in me not to scream, "Do you even know who Madonna IS?" I mean hel-looo Desperately Seeking Susan!

That being said, unless Dallas Raines (local weather guy) tells me otherwise, prepare for a resurgence of my somewhat tan faded legs this week.  I'll just stand idly by while everyone in blog world strolls by in their various fur, leather, and sweater ensembles.  Anyone for a mid-summer hippie vibe?

OH FABULOUS SHOES!!! And looking fabulous yourself!
Girl, I so needed a margarita on Saturday morning after working on the blog all day. Luckily husband took me out for a martini. And don't even remind me about getting my closet switch to my Fall clothing, I am dreading it. It's on my list of things to do tonight.

Bonus beach days sound great to me!
I woke this morning, attempted to put on a blazer, hated it and threw on a knotted button down.

Love those shoes, and instagram outfit photos. So fun!

Those shoes are incredible. Great buy on that shirt too--it's so weird to me how sometimes I will almost pass on something and wear the heck out of it and wish I had 2. As far as our weather----our lows are finally in the 80s and it feel like a hint of fall here! Haha. I will be wearing light sweaters by mid november if I am lucky.

I don't know which I love more -- that blouse or the idea of a margarita on a hot day!

The weather here finally seems to be cooling off a bit after a week of unseasonable warmth...so bring on fall!

And I love those shoes...I would also seriously regret not getting a second pair. But then I'd have another margarita and feel better. Because margaritas do that to me.

loving your shoes and your flowy blouse. Soak in the nice weather while you can. I am sure fall will hit your part of the country shortly and then you will be stuck in tights like the rest of us :)

those shoes are so fun!! i know just what you mean. i'm dying to pull out all my cool weather clothes. i'm so sick of this hot weather. sheesh! and i know exactly what you mean about what's "in" right now. i keep trying to update my wardrobe only to find blah blah blah in the stores. i guess i'll hold out a little longer. also, i was a kid when desperately seeking susan came out and it completely changed the way i wore hair bows. :)

i'm living vicariously through your weather then. it's 70 here, then on saturday and sunday it will drop to 50 and rain! i'm dying inside!

I feel your pain. Tip #1 - Make your house smell like fall (ie, tons of candles). If it can't feel like it, it can smell like it. Tip #2 - ram the air down and turn on the fans so it's cool enough inside to throw on long sleeves or wrap up in a blanket. Tip #3 - Take a vacation somewhere where it is fall (I never do this. But it would work.)

Living in the South you have to go with a fake it till you feel it attitude towards fall.

Rock the summer as long as you can! You're always welcome to come visit Chicago for a chilly jolt ;) I've actually been excited about what I'm seeing in store for fall but I felt like you are in spring/summer - was not inspired at all.

Love that shirt! Gotta stop by Zara soon, I guess. I´m vacationing for few few weeks in very cold and rainy Finland hoping to get few sunny days so I can take some photos...

Uggh, I wish it was warmer here! I am not ready for the inevitable! And I hear you about the 80's revival thing-- everyone needs to settle down and color-block with jewel tones, not acid wash!

I had no idea you guys were in the middle of such a heat wave! We're settling into Fall right now heavily. I LOVE this outfit, I need help finding boyfriend jeans, I've never successfully been able to find any! I love them on you. And the top and (rationed) shoes are perfect. That first picture of you is just so pretty!

Also, it is so funny how rearranging a room can make it so much more desirable. I LOVE that. Feels brand new.

Pretty blouse. You have nice taste.

A close friend of mine just moved to LA. She owns a cosmetic company (LimeCrime). You may bump into her!

I love that you referenced Dallas Raines!! Oh the LA nostalgia...

And the weather being 100 degrees in the Fall...I remember that one too. If it makes you feel much better, we really haven't had chilly temperatures until this weekend. Although I've been too sick curled up in my bed fighting a respiratory infection to be able to take any of it in.

85 degrees?! wtf?! Not to rub it in, but it was 75 today... seriously perfect. (doesn't happen often here in Indy though...)

SO right there with you, Carrie. I wore boots and tights last week because it dipped below 75 in the morning, and deeply regretted it by 11:00am.
