Am I doing all I should be?
Have I done all I could?
Is what I'm doing enough to be able to do all I want later?
Wish I had made a different choice. (new territory for me)
Maybe if I had I would be doing more of what I want now...
It can be a torturous thing this thinking thinking thinking. It's necessary though. I mean if you're not contemplating your life one day you'll wake up wondering how you got there. And what if you don't like it?
Oh hell this is really turning into a melancholy one, isn't it?
Blame it on Monday, overcast skies, lack of sleep. When in Rome.
I managed to haul it out mid-afternoon yesterday. Just in time to catch 15 minutes of sunshine amidst what's turned out to be a full week of foggy days. No complaining here. Tossed on the usual jeans, boots, jacket and t--and then slung my Low Luv Thunderbird necklace on at the last second.
Chef took a few pictures before we hopped in the car and when he passed the camera over we had the quietest exchange. Me: 'Something about this is very Goose and Maverick. Man look at my hair. I need a comb.' Him: 'Your hair has never looked better.' Tell me sweet little lies. More 80's flashbacks.
Tossed up hair, J.Crew Jacket, James Perse Tunic, Martin+Osa Jeans, Mike&Chris Boots, Anthro Sunglasses
Low Luv x Erin Wasson Necklace, Seventh Door Bracelet, Melinda Maria Silver Ring
Worn sparingly. Company now defunct.
Um, as I was saying...bird + military green + aviators.
Mind like a steel trap.

Liking the Top Gun look. And now I want to see Top Gun.
Is something in the air? I had a weekend full of thinking, mixed with some emotional outbursts (nothing a handful of Ghiradelli can't fix, of course).
I love that jacket, Carrie -- very Top Gun. Brilliant.

Ahh Top Gun - an 80s classic. I am becoming increasingly obsessed with 80s nostalgia. As in I am nostalgic for it constantly! I put a picture of the dress! L x
Top Gun.....those were the good ole days..."take me to bed or lose me forever", lol...LOVE this look:)
Enter my Shabby Apple Fab Frock Giveaway!!
this is a great jacket!
And how about that Volleyball scene, it never gets old.
Im all for the Top Gun look, and you do it wonderfully.
Girl, you look so fierce in that first picture. Love it!
And yes, I also did a lot of thinking this weekend, which lead to eating large amounts of chocolate. XO
That first photo jumped right off my bloglovin' page! Such a cool shot! These are actually all really cool shots, I love how diverse & interesting they are! Hope your mind settles down soon m'dear... I can completely relate, mine has been in overdrive lately and I need to calm the eff down so I can, y'know, sleep. Chin up! xo!
I appreciate your honesty, Carrie. I feel like I am always worried about the future and wish I could find some way to just live in the present. Fun!
I feel like this all the time!
Having a GIVEAWAY over at Lilac and Grey!
You wear the top gun look well. Haha--I would have never thought that of that connection, but I do love that jacket!
Thanks for your honesty about life in general, and yes, I think about that kind of "stuff" often. Probably too often.
I love this whole look on you - it's so different. And those boots and amazing. As for the dizzying round of personal questioning, I sympathize...I just got through a whole week of doing that after some harsh dissertation criticism. Ugh.

I know where you're coming from. What I doing all I can do? That's such a daunting question but oh so important to ask.
Top Gun never gets old.
Oh Top Gun, one of my all-time fave movies ever! I had an old VHS copy way back in the day and watched that movie about a million times - I would totally fast forward to all the dogfight scenes, who needs to watch a bunch of "then-hot" '80s stars all greased up playing v-ball anyways ...
Great outfit Carrie, you look "Dangerous" to quote the movie ;) Hope that your questions are answered and that you find a little happiness this week!
Hot boots!
Sexxy! I love ANYTHING Top Gun.
And, I totally get you about the questions and thinking, thinking, thinking. Usually I'm too scared to do it in fear I won't like the answers.
Not the wisest choice, Laura. Not the wisest choice.
I feel the same way right now. Just keep pushing through! At least you know you look pretty!
Keep your chin up! XOXO.

Great balls of fire!!
(This is one of my favorite movies. Ever. Tom Cruise was so hot before he went insane.)
I love this look on you. I regularly rock the military green jacket, skinnies, and aviators. I think it's a no-fail look.

Love love love your necklace and ring!!!
Very Goose and Maverick, but I can't stop loving it.
you look amazing, you know.
i understand what you mean...but have realized I'm much happier when not comparing myself to others, when being content and grateful for my present situation.
*hugs*
Title? Priceless. And these are my favorite shots of you ever! That first pic is just fire...love it. xo
THOSE BOOTS!!! Oh my goodness. I LOVE THEM!
Sorry you're feeling melancholy. The good thing about those phases is that they always pass. The other good thing is that there's Halloween candy in stores. :)
Miss you, Carrie! xo
Cheer up charlie!!! You look awesome in your outfit!! This too shall pass :)
p.s. check out my giveaway I am hosting today!
Oh Mav...I love the outfit. Especially that necklace...oooh la la

All the questions you're asking yourself are the same ones I've been asking MYSELF lately...Love your army coat, you look "sharp" (that's such an old person's word but that's what came to my mind so why mess with it?)
i think that is common in most people = people without a stick up their ass - wait till u hear my Nov 1st news - ur gonna be a proud mommy to hear about it lovey - n i think u should follow my lead IF u could bare it .. teehee
Well Chris is right, your hair looks fantastic! I too am having contemplating-my-life syndrome. But then again I've been having it for quite some time now...hasn't gone away and I'm not sure why (maybe b/c no solutions have been reached?)
I'm definitely working on it though and you know what helps? Cocktails with my ladies to discuss...(and you know I'm game, anytime!)
xoxo

those boots are amazing
Well you know I love the 80's ~ it was my era! Looking hot in that first shot Carrie ~ so who was your favorite ~ Maverick or Goose??
Ugh same here on the melancholy. I had a semi-epiphany on my "passion" in life but have no way to make that a daily/regular part of my life or career. Depressing.
I am adoring those boots! Amazing!
Loving this outfit, and now that song is stuck in my head :p
I know what you mean...I have times like that too when I think about where my life is going and get depressed and then happy and then annoyed XD

Ooh love the necklace and if you look good in something (aviators) then keep on working it!
Chef and other men that tell us sweet little lies are keepers!

I'm with Chef, your hair looks amazing.
and contemplating life is such a hard thing. I can seem to do it without getting really depressed, second guessing every choice, and wondering if i'm on the right path and how I will know if it's right? And of course, getting myself to do something outside my comfort zone and grow a little.
Chic on the Cheap
Sometime too much self evaluation can be a dangerous thing...I'm guessing you're heading as you should be right now...go easy on yourself :)
Love it. Love the Top Gun references, love your outfit, love your thoughtful post

I think we all have these days- especially when something goes not quite right and I become absolutely convinced it's because I made a recent tragic choice. which just isn't true, stuff happens and you can always make a change!

I like it! And didn't think TG until you mentioned it, and now that's all I can think of! That, and ending sentences in prepositions...
You're so Maverick in these pictures, Carrie! I love that bracelet and I think your hair looks awesome! Combs are overrated anyway. ;) xo
Bahaha! Love the jacket. I feel like that all the time, probably because it is overcast...all the time!
Carrie you look HOT!! The Goose & Maverick look works on you :)
Look a Chef getting all arsty with the camera - love the peep hole shot, sweeeeet.
Oh, P.S. I also meant to say (but got distracted by those boots) if I didn't mention this already (maybe I did?) check out the Life Plan by Michael Hyatt. It's work but hopefully worth it - I just started...
He's a sweet guy, that chef.
(and now that song will be in my head allllll day :))
i love your 80's flashbacks. and reflecting on life {past, present, and future} is so healthy, even though it may bring up a lot of unpleasant or uncomfortable feelings. *unsolicited advice alert* just make sure you're being gentle with yourself. it's easy to beat ourselves up when we discover we're not where we wanted to be. but the truth is, any path we choose to take can be filled with good things, and if you find you're heading in the wrong direction, you can always turn your ship around and forge a new path.
Two words....BAD ARSE! From the jacke to the baubles...Love it all! And hang in there lady. Sending you happy thoughts!
Love that movie and love your boots!!! xo
Loving this shoot! And loving your Low Luv necklace and those boots. And your hair looks fabulous imho! :)

Oh I hate those thoughts of "am I doing enough", "what if I had done this...or that...". I think all we can do is just look forward, otherwise looking at past "should of" and "could of" will just make us feel worse.
And what was up with that overcast weather! I was in LA Tuesday and I was not prepared for that cold weather. I guess I should expect it since it is fall and all.
