Shine in the Gloom

So here's the thing about living along the coast - at least in Southern California - you can potentially sit in overcast/foggy weather for hours not realizing that 5 minutes up the street the sun is beaming bright as can be.  Similarly sometimes you leave the house and it's toasty and fabulous only to return to brisk winds and grey skies.  Enter Sunday afternoon...there I was fresh off my flea market finds, all was well in the world.  I swear it was hot outside when we left the house.  Not so much upon return.  Enter breeze, clouds, and even fog.  Thankfully I had my bag to light the way.  Is it summer yet?

Shark fins! Okay not really, but kinda feels like it right?
Not sure what I'm looking at here...definitely wasn't the mini black widow spider
I killed last night on the ceiling.  (planted by landlord i'm sure)
Unless it hitched a ride back to my place on my pant leg.

Couldn't sign off without pointing out it appears I've quite literally
shredded my *ss off even though I've only completed up to Level 2 Day 6
of Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred.

What else can I tell you, what else, what else?  Well first thing's first I should have bought more than one pair of these jeans seeing as I wear them 14x a week.  Aside from that tomorrow's Good Friday so I'll only be working a short stint in the AM before signing off for the weekend to celebrate Easter.  I'm looking forward to spending time with friends, going to church, organizing some stuff, cleaning off the deck, and scaring the sam hell out of the neighbors who are moving in downstairs.  It's always strength in numbers with those couple types, so I have to do like dogs do and mark my territory around the deck so they don't feel as though they can meander on up into my space whenever it suits their fancy...like the girlfriend did this morning catching me strolling about in my pajamas!! Not pretty.

Never a dull moment over here at the bird.

The jeans look amazing on you, Carrie.

And have you made time for margaritas in your Easter schedule? That could go nicely with showing the new tenants who's boss.

Enjoy!

Josie - I am so excited for you!! I love Easter and remembering all that's been done to set me free. Yahoo!! Enjoy your time w/the fam :)

And Annelise...It's the Shred that has made these pants all they are. I'm about to bust into the livingroom and take on Day 6. Pardon me while I assemble the blender in preparation for the new tenants. oops!

Oh those jeans look fab on you! I wish I could rock the wide leg denim. I haven't been able to find a pair that fit me well enough in just a basic jean! Anyhoo, hope you are having a wonderful week!!

Stop by soon! xoxo!

OMG, Carrie, you look gorgeous in these pictures. I love the flare jeans on you. BTW, did you get those flare jeans that you posted on twitter or facebook? P.S. I also think that your landlord was behind the black widow spider incident. hehehe.

I was just stalking the Gap website in the hopes of snagging yours. Are yours regular or petite? I found a similar pair of wide legged trouser jeans but reviewers said it was super long.

You've waited six years for your upstairs porch space, and the new neighbors think they can just used it anytime they want?! That is so wrong.

You look amazing in those jeans by the way, no wonder you are getting a second pair.

That blouse is gorgeous. I have the 30 day shred collecting dust. I need to start doing it... tomorrow. (See how I procrastinate). xo

The text that goes along with your posts CRACKS ME UP. And of course, I think this outfit is fabulous. I've been wearing my own version of it, with high waisted jeans from F21, for weeks it seems now! And good luck with the neighbors. :)

Great pictures. I need a day off. Too tired to be at work today.
PS. I meant to tell you that I used to be a recruiter. It was one of my favorite jobs.

Good luck with the last stage of the Shred...oh and with scaring the neighbours. I thought I was the only one who did that. I also just gotta throw in here that I adore the little touch of leopard print...and the floral shirt!

Seriously shredding my *ss off this weekend, and next week. MUST. If I ever want to get near that bikini, or back into those teensy tiny jeans. MUST.

Enjoy your weekend, and go make your mark girl.

Lookin' good, doll! Absolutely LOVE the blouse and the way you styled it with the wide legs is perfection.

you are looking good ladycakes and doing better at the SHRED than i am! bah.

um, that biker guy in the photo is hysterical.

You know I love those jeans and that top is so pretty. The fog and gloom is definitely the down side of living by the beach. Last summer it was downright depressing. If we have another summer like that, I'm throwing in the towel and moving inland. So you found a neighbor! YAY! Yes, you have to set the boundaries early with those types. Have a great long weekend, Carrie!

Carrie, you are just my boho idol!!! That isn't normally the thing/style I go for, but lately I've been wanting flowers, flowiness, and all things 70's chic. The jeans look fabulous on you and I love the Tucker blouse (it totally looks like something I could find in a thrift store, but way chicer, of course).

I am ashamed to admit that the Shredding has gone to the wayside for me. I so need to get back on that train if I want to look half-way decent for the beach in a few months.
Hangs head with tears for lack of discipline!

You look lovely and I'm jealous of how skinny you are and that weather you described is totally true of northern California as well. Who the F knows what tomorrow's skies will bring.

What I would give to live in the corner of your new places for just a day or two, and see your life with my own eyes-it would be magical!

Your gripes about Southern California made me giggle, because I know all the much about fog in 3rd and sunshine at 1st! All those silly Midwesterners, thinking we've got it so good on the coast!

Marie a la Mode said...

Oooh, I love this outfit! The blouse is gorgeous and I'm planning on buying your jeans when I go to the states next month. (Not YOUR jeans but a pair like them.)

I love these photos! Beautiful outfit. These pictures make me want to be in SoCal. It's getting to be a little too hot for comfort at times here, so I would welcome the fast change from sunny to gloom right now!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating Easter! xo

you are funny, i need to shred my ass off too! ok motivation, did you hitch a ride on carrie´s jean cuff too? where'd ya go?

i do so love your jeans and not so much of a fan of your NEW neighbors invading your personal deck space. Kinda horrifying. I'm curious as to how you'll mark your territory, wish I was better at that.

Laura - thx so much. I've got a case of boho chic in a bad way!! And I was totally sweating buckets when I saw that black widow. It was small, but I spotted the red dot right away. UGH! SQUISH

Isabel - My bro called from Calgary yesterday and said they had 3ft. WHAT IS GOING ON?? Happy Easter? How's the bunny supposed to make his way through? On santa's bloody sled??
