Quit Playing Games With My Heart

I spent a good portion of a few conference calls perusing the Anthropologie website in every effort to cheer myself up over yesterday's sobering post that was deepened by a big ol' dose o' Monday.  Blech.

Now that I have Anthro's 15% off coupon burning a hole in my mind and on my desk I've allowed myself to be temporarily swept away to fall days where I skip through colored leaves in the most fantastically supple leather boots you ever did see, eventually collapsing in a crunchy pile - of leaves not boots, while warm apple turnovers bake away in my gourmet kitchen and chic grey cashmere pillows miraculously appear on my white couch just in time for cozy movie marathons and yet another episode of Felicity where she appears fresher than ever back for another year at UNY (and it is UNY in Felicityland so get there and get the dvd's if you haven't already - they'll change your life).

The reality is I probably won't see a colored leaf that isn't burnt and brown here in SoCal, and I'm not falling into a pile of anything that could potentially cause a broken hip - deal with it - but Felicity, apple turnovers, grey cashmere and cozy days are imminent (sans the gourmet kitchen - damn you money fairies).  And what better way to conjure up the images than dressed in some wonderful Anthro finds that just so happened to be purchased for 15% off?  See?  I'm getting there...:)

Imagine it...
How about the Bianka Blouse with a pair of JBrand Love Story Bell Bottoms?
Can you hear the leaves crunching beneath your knee high Miu Miu's
while your wavy tresses blow ever so slightly in the still-warm fall breezes?

Maybe you're out for a lunch with the girls on a semi-crisp day.
It's not cool enough for a jacket, but you still need
a little something to keep warm.
I'm imagining it over a fab fitted James Perse Scoop Neck Tee
and my most fave J.Crew Ankle Stretch Toothpick Denim
(because those fit past the ankle on me)
Chances are I'll be in these sleek knee high Loub's
or maybe a knee-high military?
I prefer a little height on the heel with this long sweater, personally.

Just because it's fall don't say good-bye to the dress!
...or at least not the Paseo Ruffled Skirt (yes that IS leather!)
There are so many ways you could wear this!!
How about with this sheer fabulosity Padded Shoulder Blouse (tucked in) from Vince?
And this Rag & Bone Military Jacket over top?
A knee high sleek boot might also be in order with this one...I'll let you choose.

And before I run off...let me just say I almost forgot my name
on one of the calls today
because I could not stop staring at/dreaming about the Loose Reign Boots!
Can you imagine???  Because I know I sure can!
Bring on the leggings/jeggings/skinnys, one of Isabel Marant's thermals -
yes I have seen, touched, tried on and damn near died -
and a fitted blazer or military jacket,
and you just might hear the following headline:
Southern California Woman Spontaneously Combusts Over New Fall Wardrobe.

Don't test me Anthropologie!!

Update:  Everyone - I will not be commenting today.  I don't know if you read Bumpkin on a Swing's blog, but I learned this morning that she passed away and she is someone I considered a friend.  Just going to take a moment and reflect on a woman who had a highly infectious personality
and a real zest for life.  You should check out her blog.
Love, Carrie

Bianka Blouse + JBrand Love Story jeans = my kinda ensemble perfection!

All of these are gorgeous! I'm especially loving that leather skirt... although I try to limit the amount of leather I wear since I'm vegetarian (oh, why does the conscience always mess with my buying-of-things?!)

A new Anthropologie opened in London a few months ago, and judging by your post I should avoid it at all costs :P

Hehe. I love your writing. It's hilarious and well thought out.

Anyway, I usually don't like leafy patterns, or flowers made out of fabric on my clothes, BUT I LOVE that Flower vest so much. It's darn near perfect. I agree. It needs to be paired with a heel.

And those boots so unique, yet just right! They're so original and beautiful. I can't stop daydream about them too!

:)

Great post, dear!

Hahaha because of this post, I have the number of the Backstreets boys in my head: 'Quit playing games with my heart, with my heart, with my heart!'

lovely blog!

Give me a chunky knit or give me, well....don't give me death, because not even a cute sweater is worth that. Just give me a chunky knit, some skinnies, a tissue knit slouchy tee, and my Frye's, and no one will get hurt.

Merci,
Shan

First, you NEED those Loose Reign Boots. Second, gah! Your imagery...now I am even more eager for Fall to arrive. I'm not going to lie, I got so impatient waiting for it that I wore fall-ish clothes on Sunday - needless to say I almost died from the heat, but it was so worth it. Fall, fall, fall!! :P

I absolutely love that Bianka blouse! So pretty!

Oh hellloooo love these images!!! You've got me craving Fall for sure. I've still got a good month and a half of this humidity (you need a little dose of this weather for your summer fix, I think) and then it's on to boots and cozy sweaters and my all time fave accessory: the SCARF. YES.

Charleston Girl said...

I LOVE those boots and have been lusting over them for days - I just can't quite bring myself to make the financial plunge. I love the boots with the bows on the sides as well... I'm almost ready for Fall - I'll miss my tan, but I love bundling up in layers.

Dying, dying, dying. Your taste is absolutely flawless. I'm obsessed with that first top (with dark skinnies and riding boots, HELLO) and I love more than anything that you gave a shoutout to Felicity. I'm obsessed with that show; I always wanted to watch it when I was little and finally did when I hit college!

I could get lost for hours in that store. I literally find at least ten things I NEED every time I go in there. Those boots! Hello 15% coupon! I didn't even end up using mine, so sad. I let July slip away and now all I have to show for it is a candle necklace and a bad attitude. Haha.

So sorry to read of that blogger passing away. About the Laura Mercier-I love it 'coz it stays put, has two bits: one for under the eyes and one for blemishes. and best of all it is good to my skin.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. That's so sad. I will definitely go over there and pay my respects.. It's funny I saw a piece of jewelry today at forever 21 and immediately thought of you - it's a bird cage with a bird sitting on the outside of it! It's adorable!

Hey... well, I feel bad saying this now as I am feelin' sad but the fashion you found is beautiful and holy crap, I am drying for those boots and that sweater. You have a great eye for these things. Secondly, I read Bumpkin's blog fairly often and oh how sad I am feeling right now. Lump in my throat. :(

I hope you spring for that leather mini. My hips are too wide to pull that off and still have appropriate coverage on my rear end. So, you should buy it and I will admire from afar.
