A Foretaste Of Fall For These Shoes

That title is so 'Before and After' on Wheel of Fortune.  I just have to take a moment to give myself a WOF shoutout.  I love that show.

Moving right along.  I got out of bed at 2pm today.  That's a bloody shame (only kinda seeing as I needed rest badly).  There's been just too much going on lately - some I've mentioned here and some, well, it goes without saying this is not the place to be my own personal Dear Abby so let's just leave it at that.  Okay let's not.  My birthday's coming up and I'm having a breakdown.  There.  I said it.

Now we can move on.  So anyway, last night I was totally exhausted.  I told myself I could sleep in until 9am.  Of course the telephone then proceeded to begin ringing at 4am.  Seriously?  Seriously??  Seriously.  Not amused.  And it did not quit until well after 10am so I just started answering in a complete and total daze.  I had conversations this morning the content of which I have little to absolutely no recollection of.  That's effective.  This hazy daze of mine was quadrupled by my loving cats who have recently decided to rekindle an old habit of theirs...galloping up and down the hall in the middle of the night, crashing into my room at top speed, running up to the closet door, opening it by pulling the underside with their little paws and then wrestling in the closet all night long.  This morning I woke up to a stray t-shirt in the hallway, a couple pairs of socks hanging out from under the closet door, a random watch I haven't seen in 2 years lying by the bed and a mumble jumble of shoes, belts and scarves strewn about the closet floor.  Presh, isn't it?

Can't say as I blame them though...I know what they were after.

  They're heee-eeere.

Truth be told, when I blogged about these last week I had no idea they would live up to and exceed any expectations.  You can never tell what you're going to get when you order online. When I opened the box I was elated.

It's ironic that I'm standing on a 'Yield' sign because bikers, rollerbladers
and walkers alike stopped and commented on them.

They are absolutely perfect for now and for well into fall...meaning they are a completely justified purchase (not that I've really given much thought to that when it comes to shoes...).  Hel-lo transition!

You can even scale walls in them.  Okay low walls, but still.

I wore them with a pair of my go-to Current/Elliott Boyfriend Shorts, an Alexander Wang Pocket-T and (don't judge) an Abercrombie & Fitch fabulous sweater I picked up last winter for next to nothing.  It was the perfect outfit for late evening just before the sun went down.

From the length of the drape on the sweater you can get an idea of how perfect the shoes will be with any dress.  I'm already dreaming of wearing them with leggings, harem pants and a pair of long lost military shorts I found during Closet Excursion 2010 this past Saturday.

I kept it simple with a rope necklace and primarily silver jewelry, but mixed it up with the chainlink ring and the turquoise stone on one of the others.  I'm finding it's getting much easier to mix silver and gold - or at least a tarnished version of gold - which is growing on me every time I wear it all together.

Before I zip off, here's another picture of the shoes.

And now there's some money fairies I need to catch up with...I've got my net out so there's no escaping me!

Outfit details:  Abercrombie & Fitch Sweater, T by Alexander Wang Pocket T, Current/Elliott Boyfriend Shorts, Dulce Amsterdam Clog, Club Monaco Necklace, Melinda Maria Rings, Dean Davidson Turquoise Ring, Nicole Miller Sunnies

Can I live in your shoe closet? I love them! I have spotted a pair by Chloe similar to the beige wedges in one of your recent posts (worn with poncho and white short) but these ones I like are the price of a small house! I have come to the conclusion I would be prepared to work solely for shoes, handbags and cosmetics for the rest of my life!

Oooh great shoes! Love them! Also, I've always wanted to know: what's so special about the Alex Wang tee? I've seen it on LOTS of bloggers, but from what I can *see* it's not much different to a normal tee ... is it really comfortable/well-made/something? I'd love to know! It seems like a great, versatile piece, though!

ok well firstly, you're fabulous - duh. secondly without sounding like i'm responding to your 'dear abbey' letter - birthday's can make you feel depressed because they're a benchmark that can sometimes remind us that we're not where we thought we'd be at 'this' point. Well screw that sister, you're exactly where you should be, we all are! Pat yourself on the back for being the brilliant woman that you are and blow out a darn candle and eat a yummy piece of cake! You bloody well deserve it!

This is a great look. I've been resisting purchasing denim shorts this summer because I felt as I hit the later part of the mid-twenties that I'm too old for them, but this really is a grown-up way to wear them.

What a pleasant surprise to open an online shopping package and find that it's better than you expected! That rarely happens for me and so often the item disappoints. These are FABULOUS. I'd scale walls in these too, and bike ride, and go jogging, and do yoga, etc. They're THAT amazing.

Oh, and you're birthday...no need to start sweating until you reach my age. I was the biggest, crabbiest mess this past birthday. Nothing cheered me up. I ended up getting a pedicure at 8:00 in the evening at the local Asian nail salon. And, no, they didn't greet me with party horns! Hehehe...

Have a good one, my friend!

okay. now its 79 comments.

Whooohooo! now its a party of two !!!
ohhhh cats can be so charming cant they ? *sssarcasm!* . like we used to have this old, part siamese cat who was literally like 4 lb when she died at 19, and was going deaf, and must not have known the loud obnixious sounds she was making and would herd my mother to be screaming all the way down the hall. And if my mom wasnt going to bed when Ariel (the scarily skinny kitty) wanted her to, she would scream until she did. And i know all about the running up and down the hall. my little girl kitty gets the "nightime crazies". its hilarious.
oh the joys of cats. they're worth it though.
hahah, i've heard this quote before "cats dont have owners, they have staff". very true, very true.

Thats so funny about the yield thing! hahah, who wouldnt love adorable shoes that are good for scaling walls?

Reina said...

ugh. i hate when i make a mistake and have to go back and edit

it should be "herd my mother to bed" not "to be"

You were crackin' me up with your cat story! Oh how I can relate! My cat has become so bossey! She's notorious for pawing my arm or my face while I'm sleeping, because she wants to go under the covers! Um...hel-lo...I'm sleeping! She'll keep at it until I do what she wants. And if I shut the door to keep her out, she'll scratch at the door until I let her in, also waking me up! I can't win.

That outfit is perfect for the weather we've been having, and those shoes!!!!! I don't even think I can talk about them! SO AMAZING! I can totally picture them with dresses, tights, trousers, etc! What a great purchase! I just ordered an A. Wang tee on Gilt. Can't wait til it comes!
