Fly Away

I'm sitting here listening to the neighbor's dog bark its head off while she repeatedly hollers, "NO!" at it.  After 3 days of this I'm about to go over there and give her a rip.  Or at least holler, "NO!" to her.  I wonder if it would work?  If the dog's behavior is any indication, the answer would be no.  Or is that "NO!"?

Anyway.  It's been super warm and is early in the evening on Tuesday - just a couple seconds ago the sweetest cool breeze blew through the front door and straight out the open bedroom window in the back of the house leaving the whole place smelling like the ocean.  I have to say I love summer at the beach and am so happy it's here, even if only for just a short time.  Today was my last day of work for the week and I am officially in birthday mode (read:  cleaning before my bff from Seattle gets here and calls Hoarders for an intervention - no jokes)  I wish I was outside.  sigh

A couple of days ago the Chef and I were driving through a small beach town by my house and on a street we'd never taken.  As I glanced to the right I saw the beach no more than 50 yards away, causing me to holler, "Beach!  Stop!".  Luckily no one was behind us when he hit the brakes!!  hehe  We got out and took it in for a bit because who knows how long it will last...hopefully a month or so more, but you can never tell.  I was wearing a silk butterfly tank top by my most fave Gaby Basora - the mastermind behind Tucker.  Did you catch the preview sale for her Target Collection on Gilt last week?  It was a gong show, but I managed to hobble off with a couple of dresses and a tank...one of the dresses is in a similar butterfly print.  It won't be silk, but if I love it even half as much as the one I'm wearing here it'll be totally worth it.  I hope you are able to treat yourself to some of her collection.  It is quintessentially feminine with a touch of Parisian flair.  I never tire of any of the pieces I own, or feel bad for a little wallet slip on her stuff here and there.

I can smell the breeze when I look at this picture.  Love that!
There's the bracelet my new friend Laeticia gave me.
Remember that story?
Her husband made the belt too...seems I forgot to run it through
the other side of the buckle?  Woops!  Still looks and is awesome.
Soon enough it got a little chilly.
So we just mucked around in the sand for awhile.
Cashmere in August anyone?  oy
I was probably tearing up because of all the cleaning that lies ahead...hehe
Perfect sunset.  Can't ask for more.  The kid with the frisbee felt the same.

Outfit details:  Tucker by Gaby Basora Tank, Gap Layer Cami, Martin+Osa Skinny Denim (RIP), Martin+Osa Cashmere Cardigan, Swedish Hasbeen Super High Peep Toe Shoes, PANYC Belt and Bracelet, Tom Ford Sunnies.

Your neighbor should meet up with my neighbor - a big hulking football player-looking guy who has to walk around chasing after his (haha, his wife's) three little chihuahua's every day. I know every time he's out because all I hear is "Toby, no! No, Toby! Toby! TOBY!"

I'm going to be hitting the beach for the first time this week, and it won't be work related! Not that I can complain about working on the beach, but it's such a tease to go and not be able to just relax. I can't wait!

Love that Tucker butterfly blouse! I'll have to check out the Target stuff when it comes out. Gilt is ridiculous! Do they get like one of each item? They sell out by 9:01 am!

SUMMER IS HERE!!! Finally! I couldn't be happier. I've loving that tank of yours, Carrie. I can see why it's one of your favorites. I'm off to Colorado this weekend, but I'm hoping this weather sticks around long enough for me to have a beach day over Labor Day weekend. I feel like I haven't seen the sand in years! haha. I know, we're spoiled living by the beach, but we've totally been taken for a ride with this "summer" of ours.

So your birthday is tomorrow! YAY! Happy early birthday! Hope you have lots of fun activities planned with your BFF!

Might I suggest calling animal control on your neighbor? Took care of the problems near us. ;D
We seem to be into some of the same things. I just started my own blog, and I would really appreciate some suggestions or comments! I thank you in advance if you decide to check out my blog and give me some feedback.

Love your outfit. You are so lucky to live so close to the beach! Even though I've been so close to one several times this summer, my toes did not even touch the sand! Maybe I'll get a chance before it gets too cold!

Great pics! You look gorgeous as ever :) Wish I could just walk to a nearby beach. I live in a concrete jungle, which is nice at times and not so nice at times.

There is a townhouse behind us and when the two ladies who live there go out drinking at night they lock their dog on the rooftop balcony. One night the poor thing yapped for over 5 hours! I walked over to give them sh**... crap when they came home and found someone else had taped a STRONGLY WORDED LETTER to their garage already. LOL!! So I just left :)

I always look forward to your posts, Carrie. I love this one! A summer breeze blowing in the midst of this heat wave sounds absolutely divine! Love the photos. You are my "dusk girl." You always pick this perfect time of day to shoot your photos.

Great cashmere cardi. RIP Martin + Osa. Love the beehive ponytail too. There was a post on the beehive trend in the NYTimes today... did you see it? :)

Carrie, please go yell "No!" at your neighbor so I won't feel so bad when I finally snap and do the same thing to mine- her dog howls as if its in gawdawful pain for hours on end when owner is gone and it drives me batty! Neighbor works two jobs so the dog is pretty much constantly howling.

Gorgeous shirt; LOVE the bracelet; I think I can smell the ocean through your pictures, too:) Enjoy it while you can and continue to post pics so us midwestern girls can live vicariously!

Marcie - You're such a sweetheart. My pictures are usually at dusk because it's the only time I can get out of the house! hahaha

Style She Wrote - yes RIP M+O. What a tragedy - I don't know if I'll ever recover. And I didn't see the NYT article on the beehive trend!! I just love a hive...I feel so fancy now!

Jen (and everyone!) - come on over and let's have a beach bonfire! that would be SO FUN!!

xoxo,
Carrie
