Updating Your Space

I spend an inordinate amount of time at home because I work here, and that makes things tough on a lot of different levels.  For instance it's Wednesday and I will not leave the house yet again today due to insane workload.  Even though I may be confined to my office, I still like to emerge at end of day and feel refreshed.  That can be difficult when I'm still in the same space, in the same sweats I may or may not have rolled out of bed in in the morning, with the same tossed up lid.

Often this really is the case, so I've made some adjustments recently to help break up my day a little.  For instance I've adopted a work wardrobe for around the house that is not entirely sweats, I take tea breaks in the morning and afternoon where I at least sit on the deck for 10 or 15 minutes, and am now considering how to make a few changes/additions/furniture moves around the house to help keep it fresh.

These peaceful rooms are right up my alley.  Here's hoping I can figure out a way to incorporate their vibe into my place.   I could really use some ommmmmmmm in my life right about now.
Might be able to work all day and night in this space.
But if not, would be happy to retire in a bedroom like this one.  sigh
Fluff.  White fluff.  My favorite.

How do you give your living spaces simple updates to keep them fresh and comfy?  Thoughts especially welcome due to brain drain on the work front.

Our office is on my list to completely redo. Someday, someday. I try to focus most on the rooms we spend the most time in. Currently the living room could use some work since I'm basically living on the couch. Again.

i'm seeing a fur trend...glorious! i work from home mon-wed-fri and i try to keep the house nice and clean to avoid brain clutter and usually light candles or bring home fresh flowers to keep it feeling fresh. :)

I always find that even if I'm studying in my room, I need to throw on a pair of jeans. Apparently I'm just not as productive in my pajamas... Who would have thought?

very cool, i love the inspirational spaces. My Stepmom has worked from their home the last 5 years, she always jokes about how she's gotten disgusting because she's always in workout clothes. But like you, she has made different routines like eating lunch on the back deck and taking the dog for walks- that way, she's not cooped in there all day!

The chair in the first photo looks so cozy!

I haven't updated my space since moving in last year, but I definitely have a lot of ideas for a future update!

Wow that first office is insane, i would happily work all day in there! my quick changes normally involve a new through or throw pillows. for an office i absolutely have to get rid of the clutter, so often a new basket or bin to sort paperwork. make sure to give yourself some breaks so your eyes don't glaze over! i escape to take charlie for little walks when i work from home!

I like the idea of wearing work clothes and taking regular tea breaks...seems like it would break things up a bit. And I love all of those interiors. Wowza.

So true, I would go stir crazy if I HAD to be inside all day. Good idea to mix things up a bit and you should definitely take a break every now and then.

Tea breaks sound nice. I'm one who loves to rearrange furniture. I've bee trying to convince B for weeks to ket me do his room, it's the only one that really has 'options' but he's having none of it. Hang in there today. B has a friend coming over so I will be in play date mode. Cookies, thanksgiving crafts and hopefully sone work time while they cuddle and read ;)

I would kill for a space like that. I don't have a clue what to do with mine, it's so awful and i wouldn't even know where to begin to change it.

I have been dreaming about the day I can work from home. I actually saved that first picture as inspiration for my office (one day). I love the crisp, clean aesthetic.

That dreamy, last white room is perfection! A few accessories like the yoga cat definitely help right?

White fluff is absolutely my favorite. I try to keep some spaces dedicated to work so I won't get confused and try to take a nap on the kitchen table. We also don't have a real living room, but a collection of music making/paper writing furniture, so that helps.

Oh I absolutely love that last picture, what a refreshing looking room! I'm working/interning from home too, and am currently wearing my PJs with no makeup, looking around at my messy place - I definitely need to update my space and schedule too!

These spaces are amazing! I need to do a better job of decorating my place. I love my couch but aside from that it's not super set up like I'd like...

When I am at home I am always in sweats! I hope to one day work from home, just manage my online vintage shop, but for now it's a full time job and the shop. I love the clean rooms, crisp white, and white fur accents.

I am building myself an office (slowly) so this is such a relevant topic for me! I love the first office-- comfortable but not cluttered. I have felt that the most important things in an office are plenty of workspace (I like a long desk) and lots of natural light. Your breaks are a great idea, too!

these are beautiful! wish i had the means to do something like this. i am working from home right now too, and i'm so thankful i have a place to go to now! it's rowan's closet... but still it's my own personal space. i've been trying to get dressed in the morning too. that seems to help a little. tho i also like just lounging around in my jammies...

ok, fur chair? I might never leave my desk if I had that...and if it is as soft at it looks I might never get dressed either. Wait, ok, so a little TMI but hey!

Taking 10-15 minutes to yourself is even a good tip for the weekend. When I'm home, I constantly feel like I should do something productive. I should make tea time a priority!

To me it's all about a comfortable chair, containers, office supplies, lighting and a label maker...good luck!

Breaks are so important! If I don't take breaks, my brain really feels fried at the end of the day. I think keeping work space and living space separate, so that it is easier to stay away from work when you are trying to relax. I like to change little things here and there to keep things interesting and looking different, such as changing the throw pillows on the couch, getting a new candle, adding a throw across the chair. I think it's in the details.

Gorgeous! I love the white-on-white/neutral color palettes you chose. They're so relaxing and peaceful, almost like a spa.
