Lace Blazer Creates Convert

If I told you how long I have been staring at this blazer you may or may not think I had been hypnotized.  In the past week alone it was gazed upon no less than 10 times per day *cue 'Too Much Time on My Hands*, yet for one reason or another I just couldn't pull the trigger.  In all honesty lace has not crossed my mind much since Madonna was, ahem, much younger--and even then I was more enthralled with the piles of bracelets climbing her arms.  Lately however I'm kinda transfixed.

Cut to scene and there I was on Friday night indulging in the weekly ritual of margaritas and chicken tacos with my friend Kelly who proceeded to use dirty words like, oh, Forever 21 right at the table.  I'm just going to out myself:  I haven't been in Forever 21 in 9 years.  Yes you read that right.  Everyone goes on and on about Forever 21 and all I'm thinking is, 'I turned *cough* 25 last year so that one is out of the question."  Well friends, I would like to formally announce that as of Saturday at approximately 12:30pm PST I am now 21 again and it is feeling pretty good.

Kelly coerced me to a monstrosity of a Forever 21 that resembled a mini department store.  She's very sneaky too--after 15 minutes she had to depart, abandoning me in a sea of what appeared to be 7 million females between the ages of 10 and 52.  Is this post littered with numbers or what? Anyway, 2.5 HOURS later I emerged with stars in my eyes, hair still in my head AND a jackpot of finds in my bag, not the least of which was an amazing version of that lace blazer I had been stalking.  Examine the evidence:
~Forever 21-Blazer (not on site yet, but similar here), Free People-Romper (tank version here),
Current/Elliott-Boyfriend Jeans, Steve Madden-Ruffled Leather/Wood Heel (last year?)
Yep.  That's the look of a giddy woman.
Drunk on lace and savings, if you will.
There she is close-up.  I'm normally an extra small but this came in small through large,
and I purchased a large to give it a boxier feel.  Rolling up the sleeves
worked perfectly and voila!
And on that note:  a big shout out to Forever 21 for making my lace blazer dreams come true.

Everything that happened before and most of what occurred after this purchase completely sucked (except the bbq with my friends you know who you are), but the blazer helped to ease the pain just a little.  Suffice it to say I will be returning to this mecca for further investigation.

F21 scares and intimidates me. The store and the website. I should probably get over that.

wow!! sometimes i want to hate forever 21 for giving us college skank skirts and things along those lines...but then i want to bow down to them when they give us something like this lace blazer which looks freaking impeccable on you!!!!

That blazer is a wee bit special. I must say my one and only F21 experience was scary...I felt it was pop fashion on crack, I had no idea where to look and ended up feeling so overwhelmed I left!

okay, I am so glad to see how you styled this jacket (it looks great!) because I purchased a similar one just before summer and have yet to really wear it because I always feel like I have to dress it up or something...now I see how it's done! :)

Great find! I love the blazer! I don't really go into Forever 21 much either, but I have been surprised by the some of the selections when I have gone in.

F21 is always hit or miss....most times I just walk around people watching - it is the best there!! And occasionally you find jems, like this blazer!!! I found RED JEANS on Friday!!

uhm, hot. I think the ring is the tiny aspect that pulls the whole thing together! not your grandmas lace.

It looks so cute on you. I always feel that Forever 21 is too young but this is proof that a few pieces can be mixed in and they are so affordable! xo

Welcome back to the F21 fold! It's hit or miss there to be sure but when you hit on something it's epic!

Oh that blazer. It is gorgeous on you!
I totally understand why you've chosen to avoid f21. it is like some kind of monster, and you are pretty helpless to it once you step in.
you are bound to find something, so absurdly cheap, and so unmistakeably like that $$$$$ item you've been wanting... what choice do you have?

Perfection!! That's all I have to say about this outfit!! That is a fabulous new blazer.

I love F21 and stalk the website daily, but going into the store is a whole other experience. It's best to go in there with a focus and some time on your hands so you don't get too overwhelmed.

Welcome back to the 21 club! This blazer is the hotness!!

I'm so happy to be back in reality and blog reading again. This was the perfect come back post!!

Haha! I love how your blog title makes it sound like a newspaper headline. And I love how f21 made it. Seriously, that place is either a big no or a fat yes.

Hahaha Carrie you always seem to crack me up everytime I read your posts!! You always make my day!

I seriously cannot believe it's been that long since you visited a F21 store. Well, I am glad you did because that is one HOT lace blazer! You look fantastic!

Love the new blazer! So glad you ventured into Forever 21, I find a lot of great pieces there! I will admit though, it can be an awful place, especially when you're trying to find something specific. I went looking for a lace top last week, that was in the damn WINDOW and no one had a clue what I was talking about.

So cute on you !! Forever 21 can have some seriously good finds...just takes a lot of time to find them and sometimes you walk out with nothing !!

I had a very similar F21 ahah moment this past year... Since then, I've got some great clothes- and accessories!

A little overwhelming though... kinda department-store-ish.

*sigh. That is a beautiful blazer. Forever 21 always seems to come in for the swoop and save the day.

You totally scored with that blazer! It's gorgeous! So I guess you haven't been to the F21 in West Ed then. You will have to go next time you're up for a visit! It's HUGE! I get so overwhelmed shopping there but I always find clothes or accessories to take home ; ).

love your jeans. I have a pair from True Religion like your jeans and love to wear it with casual tanks and flip flops.

I usually shop Forever 21 (and I am 43) online but I convinced my daughter to go with me Friday night. We didnt see that amazing lace blazer but I did get a fun poncho and a bright orange long sleeve tee. Sam got a spike ring and some tweed loafers. I saw a skirt I want to go back for.

That lace blazer is to die for. Forever 21? Really? Hilarious. I haven't been in in probably 8 years myself.

I love the lace blazer and I am not even a blazer kinda girl. I am, however, a lace kinda girl! And leather. ;) And sequins, and bling, and gold.

As of tomorrow I will no longer be a part of the decade that contains the number "21," but I still might check out the scene to see if I can score some similarly awesome & cheap finds!

What an amazing find!!! I can see how happy you are just wearing it!

Oh no-shitty, impossible weekends for everyone! Thank goodness there are impossibly cheap goodies to be found at F21. It requires all of my patience, but victory can be yours.

It is the 2nd item from F21 I see a blogger wear that I WANT only in 1 day! First it was the suede skirt from SIncerely Jules and now this amazing beauty! Wish they had it here although we can order online it is never the same!

You are definitely rocking that blazer! I am a total lace lover but can't do forever 21 because of their shadiness. I am reminded that they make super cute things though (and I'll be stalking the other high street stores until themn).

Isn't it great how F21 always seems to have the exact trendy piece you're looking for? Only problem is you have to sift through tons of crap to find it...

Kara Endres said...

Oh, I've been wanting a lace blazer too. That one is so cute- sometimes you find things in F21 but not online- they're very unpredictable that way, but I'll keep an eye out. Your hair looks fantastic here btw! xx

the blazer you got and the one on shopbop are so similar! Nice!
Also, if you wanted to expand on your lace blazer collection H&M had some neat styles a bit different than the one you got.
