Polka Dots and Orange

Sometimes I have a brutal time coming up with post titles.  What's up with that?  It probably doesn't help that I've been burning the candle at both ends at work meaning by end of day I can barely speak much less form a cohesive thought.  It does feel great to be productive though - being idle is not my thing.  In any event I stared at the pictures and blurted out the title so here we are.

I was so happy to score these orange pumps at Zara a couple weeks ago.  How cute are they??  I'll admit I'm not usually one for overly bright colors, but these just called out to me - it also helped that they were the last size 36 in Southern California.  How could I leave them behind?  They have a ton of potential and probably only need an insert in the left foot which appears to have gotten a bit smaller than the right. Erm freak of nature much? No worries Inspector Shoeseau's on the case so it will handled in a timely manner.  Much like the time we were in Palm Springs with the parents when the Go International Target line was released and I stampeded on over there (inspector shoeseau style) to claim this polka dot dress.  It was the only thing that really caught my eye and, though I wavered at the time, am really happy to have picked it up.  Can be worn baby doll or belted and totally worth the less than $40 it cost at the time.

~Dress: Jovovich-Hawk for Target, Vest: J.Crew, Belt: Anthro, Shoes: Zara,
Bag: Alexander Wang Coco~
I love the swirly fabric and mix of large and small polka dots.  So feminine and
really a different look than I usually go for, but the vest made it mine.
Coco - still very sentimental to me, despite her backbreaking studs.
She always takes an outfit up a notch.
View from the back.  Have to say I'm not usually one for the shorter dress, but
this one got to me.  I was done at "polka dots".
The week's kinda been going like this...a blur.
As of yesterday I am officially out of Cadbury Mini Eggs
so prepare for a breakdown in the west.  Work's been grueling and I've lost my crutch!

It's the belt and the shred...I've STILL got a bit of the muffin top, but laying off the mexican food a wee bit is helping. I've replaced the majority of it with sushi however it appears chocolate chip cookies are beckoning. Blame it on stress!! oy

But thank you :)

What is it about being the last in stock that makes things so much more appealing?
And even though its a bright color, i'm learning just how versatile i can really be - have fun styling them!

Oh my goodness, how cute are you?! I am obsessed with polka dots lately and orange (I just tried a red lip today, but think orangey-red would have been a better choice and your shoes confirm it!)

Love the dress, LOVE the shoes, and will you look at those legs! That Shred business has obviously been working for you!
And I can never come up with post titles either. Some days I'm tempted to just name them "look at this thing I like".

Your polka dot dress is sooo cute! And the pumps totally work. I love the bright orange color. Okay, Target expert: what should I expect when I go shopping there in a couple of weeks? You do NOT know how excited I am to enter a Target!

*addition to this OUTFIT (I'm tired :))

Annie said...

I love this polka dot dress! It has so many pretty details and it looks so great on you, Carrie! and those heels! They are the perfect addition to this addition (and equally awesome on their own)

I have been having a pretty relaxed week.. rare and much needed! I hope things slow down for you..

p.s. I got some suggestions to add a cup of vinegar to the wash to "set the color" in the jeans.. I'm a little nervous and think I might try the excessive multiple washings like you said. And I think you would definitely like the ko lotion. I don't usually love Burt's Bees, but I have to say that they did a good job with that lotion I featured! xo

my titles are dumb. sweetness, those heels need to be on my feet now. i think i just drooled onto my keyboard.

I seriously CANNOT get over this outfit! It's spectacular! I need those shoes. {And wow you have tiny feet :)} The dress is perfection. And the bag needs to be mine. Love is not a strong enough word!

k said...

the title reminded me of this hideous outfit i had in middle school...like orange sleeveless turtle neck with huge white polka dots and matching orange shorts and i had frizzy poofy hair. i'm sad there is a picture to remember that by.ugh.

Claire Kiefer said...

1. Um how did the Cadbury eggs last you this long? I need your secret (thank God mine have been gone for weeks)
2. You SHOULD be one for the shorter dress cause your legs look amazing!
3. I love the dress . . . almost as much as I love the shoes. Which makes sense given that I looooove heels and I looooove bright colors.

xoxo

Those shoes!! Those gawd-dang shoes!! I want, I want, I want!!

On a side note: if some crazy woman in California runs up behind you and renders you unconscious with a hearty *thwack* from her purse, and you wake up and are shoe-less... well, let's just say it wasn't me. I don't even live in Cali, dude!!

Such a cute outfit and I love the color of the shoes with it! Ugh, I've actually had the problem where I buy a pair of heels and one fits perfect and the other is tight. Turns out one was just tried on by so many people it stretched out. But, got a full refund! :)
