Silver Shoes Set the Night on Fire

While closet diving (apparently several of us really love this term leading me to believe we could form a little closet hoarders anonymous group - except we might not be entirely anonymous, but who's counting?) this past weekend I became reacquainted with more than a few old friends.  It all started when Olivia Palermo showed up in those Sergio Rossi silver brogues 2 summers ago.  I swear it's all her fault (remember my new excuse? olivia palermo made me do it).  Of course I never could find her exact same shoes stateside leading me on a frenzied cat and mouse chase for a similar shoe that consumed my time for months.  Never give up.

Anyway, while up to my elbows in wardrobe overhaul 2010 I stumbled upon the shoes in their little shoe bag hanging right on the door I open and stare at daily.  Look around much, Carrie?  Thereby proving my point:  if you have too much you don't even know what you've got.  Immediate outfits began springing to mind:  leather leggings, chunky sweaters and the shoes; khaki bubble skirt (seen here), striped t-shirt and the shoes; rolled skinny denim a la my Isabel Marant obsession (seen here and here), striped t-shirt and the shoes.  A glimpse inside the mind:  {Pause.  I said striped t-shirt twice - I need to go buy one.  goes to computer and can't find one for less than $76.  Why didn't I buy that sale one for $19.99 at J.Crew??!? lamentations ensue.  I'm never going to find a striped t-shirt!! wah wah wah as full-on whining breaks out from inside the closet.}

Chef:  didn't you buy a striped shirt at J.Crew that time?
Me:  No *sniff*
Chef:  remember that time?  they were almost closing
Me:  NO!  Don't you think I'd remember buying a striped shirt since I'm looking for one now?!? *insert exasperated tone in here*

Suddenly I take a denim jacket off a hanger revealing said striped shirt.  Pride's a biznatch and sometimes you've gotta chew on it.

Me:  Um, you mean this one? *said in sheepish voice*
Met with silence and shaking head.
I'm still trying to live it down without a leg to stand on.

Saint James Sweater, J.Crew Skinny Denim, Steve Madden brogues.
3 items create simple chic.
 Parisian Nautical
Meets Disco Saturday Night
Relationship ensues I guess it really is the simple things.

Please let me know in the comments if you can't see the pictures...some people are saying they can't and I just don't understand what the problem could be...technology = enemy!!

Hahah that's what they're for, to remind us that we have that EXACT same pair of black ankle boots already. Or maybe I'm projecting. But I love the jeans, shirt, and Olivia had me hooked on silver brogues with those pictures too!

These shoes are amazing! And I know exactly what you mean about closet diving. I found a balenciaga clutch in my closet the other day that I had bought at a second-hand store and have clearly forgotten about for the past year or so. I was literally shocked when I realized I own this. What is wrong with me?

Courtney Erin said...

I love those shoes!!!! I've been looking for a pair of brogues and never quite found what I wanted but those are them.

Hilarious conversation with you and Chef. He sounds so funny and cool! That shirt with skinny jeans is awesome, Carrie. I am loving it. I also have to point out that taking photos at dusk is so smart. You look great in all of them.

Hilarious! I cannot believe you had these in your closet and didn't even remember them! They're fabulous. Love that the chef remembers your wardrobe better than you do. Gabe does that to me sometimes and I that's when the guilt sets in that I buy/own too much stuff. You look adorable in this outfit, Carrie. So simple and chic.

I always think you look adorable in every single outfit post. It's kind of amazing. These shoes are FUN, and totally feed my blingy metallic obsession. I was just whining about how Christmas shopping for other people inevitably means finding stuff you want yourself . . . yikes, I'm in for it.

Isabel said...

im not really into brogues but i really like these ones..the leather looks thinner...

I like this outfit a lot! So easy. I was eyeing a silver pair of flats at Old Navy the other day... but I sort of also want them in leopard print. I guess for under $20 I might as well get both. I also love closet diving and as soon as I come across some free time I'm going to do a major closet re-do. So many things to give away, and also pieces I can't wait to re-discover.

Oh, gorgeous shoes! The color is fantastic - and the shape of them, too! I love the way you put them together with cropped skinny jeans, you totally rocked it :)

I love that outfit. For some reason when shopping I always sort of default to stripes! I should take a photo of all my stripy tops!

LyddieGal said...

Oh gosh... I thought I was bad...
Your closet diving has proven to be quite successful, and now you've got me lusting for silver oxfords. And another striped shirt. Even though my current count of striped shirts is heading into double digits, and I know it.

Is that the Meridien II tee? If you don't mind me asking, what size did you get? I'm looking at purchasing one online and am not sure whether to size down one or two sizes.

Hi Adrienne--it is the Meridien Tee and I got it in small, but should have purchased extra small. I hope this helps. I would have emailed you but there wasn't a link back to your blogger profile. Sorry about that!
