Waging War on Carpets

As much as this blog is supposed to be about clothing and shoes and all that good stuff it's time to come clean...this thing has turned into an occasional play by play of my crazies.  I just can't help but share - it seems so much more interesting than just showing 14 things I like and then describing how I'd wear them.  I mean does anyone really want to read that from me every single day?  Anyone?  Anyone?

I've got posts backed up for a week based sheerly on things like piles of laundry I keep tripping over, the new neighbor who refuses to angle park his big *ss mountain climber SUV so I have to keep pounding on the door asking him to move in order to get into my garage (get the hint much there neighbor?), the Chef's cat attacking his dad's leg leaving a big ol' bloody bite after he left her out in the rain for too long...don't mess, and oh so much more.  Hopefully I'll get to a weekend recap before the weekend but until then let us begin with a momentary deviation so I can clear this image from my mind.

I'm calling this thing the 'Hell No'

Apparently someone over at Maison Martin Margiela decided that women need a trough for their toes and therefore came up with this mess.  I hope to God I don't see anyone wearing these shoes because I will tackle them to the ground, rip them from their feet and toss them into the nearest fiery furnace.  This is not okay.  I am calling a Fashion 'Mergency 911.  Someone get Iman on the phone.

And now to the most recent development over here at the bird:  My cats have taken their feelings about my landlord's cheap new carpet straight to the source...the carpet.  Every morning I find a little more destruction.  Just this morning I realized they full on ripped it right off the stairs - thankfully not all 15 of them, but bloody close.  Examine the evidence:

This is the work of a carpet hater - two of them as a matter of fact.
They've had it with carpet and they're not taking it anymore.
Help.me.
She's out for blood on carpet and will not be disturbed from her boho throne.

Pardon me while I also add that I am failing at the 30 Day Shred.  I've had a migraine for 5 days running and can't do squat for fear of aneurysm.  All but 2 women on my dad's side passed away from aneurysm...it's in the fam and I'm not taking chances.  That being said I am moderately intrigued at the idea of jumping around at midnight to see what the new neighbors do.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Just tonight I was wreaking havoc on my own body eating a piece of Chocolove's dark chocolate salted almond goodness when Kelly Ripa had to appear on tv with her Ripa for Ryka sneaker commercial flaunting her skinny arms and legs, waving them around in my face.  Fine Kelly. FINE. I get the point already!!  (prolly friends with jillian michaels anyway)  Wait a second...is that carpet scratching I hear?

I don't like cheap carpet either. And that's all I've got because the world is waging a war on ME and I've been camped out in bed ever since my temp read 101 earlier. This needs to go away before I have to reschedule the vacation and have a nervous breakdown. Send help :(

Carrie, trust me, if anything interesting ever happened to me, I'd be writing about it. I love living vicariously through you and your adventures. BRUTAL about the carpet... Although clearly your cats have good taste. And those shoes... Ugh. Enough said.

Those shoes are absolutely awful. People are weird. I don't like my neighbors either, they always block me in. Your cat is really cute.

And I only say one thing now: Lindt Lindor Chocolate Eggs :D

Happy weekend!

I love your clothes but I love hearing your stories more. You've a real flair for telling a cracking story so I say go for it.

As for the carpet, I think your cat looks quite satisfied and pleased with her work. Too bad she couldn't do the same for your neighbour's car tyres.

Hope the migraine is gone! Whoa with the carpet! Now that I'm in a tropical country - it's all tile floors and I say not to carpet!

Thanks for the sweet comment!
Such a beautiful cat!! They have a spray at Walmart (and prolly some other stores) that is like an anti-scratch spray. Some people say it works great and others say not so much-- maybe worth a try though :)

Carrie, I feel for you w/ the migraines... I get them too. Hope yours is gone today. Do you have a prescription for them? Look at your cat perched on her boho throne looking so innocent... ha ha. She hates the landlord too. That is beyond annoying about the neighbor blocking your garage. xo

look at her on her throne!!! I bet she is thinking of her next carpet attack, hehehe

1. We have one carpeted room in our house and our cats do the same! We bought a cardboard scratching post, load it up with catnip, and they don't destroy the carpet.
2. I NEED a boho throne for our cats! Love those pillows!
3. Take it easy with the migraine! Tweet Jillian for some magical tips for the mean time...like the thrilling 10 push-ups every hour for 10 hours...what the?!

hahaha Pattinson was pretty gooooood, and i may or may not admit that. where did you get that boho thrown? i think charlie needs one and maybe then he'll stop stealing my pillow!

I think I've read that cat's hate the smell of citrus? Maybe try a few orange peels for a week or to to 'train' them not to! Hahaha, trains cat. As if that works. And the shoes? Seriously?!?

OMG i love you. Just seen your comment on my blog so i came on over to yours...you had me at "As much" lol
Going to spend some time now catching up with your posts from the beginning.

Those shoes are ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous! And please don't have an aneurysm. That would suck.

Colleen said...

Um, hello!! That cat bed is amazing!! =)

Lacey in the City said...

What was MMM thinking with those shoes?!

The cats don't like the carpet...yikes, what can you do with that one? When our pup does something bad, we scold her and she puts her tail between her legs, but cats really just don't give a shit about a scolding, do they?

Courtney Erin said...

My cats also take out their frustrations on our poorly installed carpet (which appears to be the same color as yours), everyday I pick up more and more loose pieces of it. Sigh. And it's definitely probably best to sit out the Shred for a bit and not take any chances - I mean, what a way to drop dead. And on the shoes, seriously WTF? Who would buy/wear those?

Haha, OK those heels gave me the fugly shivers!

Mayhap I need to bring my pup by to play with your kitties! When my pup is bored, she likes to slowly and methodically pull up the carpet fibers - your cats would save her some valuable carpet pulling time!

It's okay, we'll just be on level 2 forrrrrrrrever. Together. :)

Carrie, I'm still trying to get BACK onto L2!!!

I hope the migraines better today... You're going to need a clear mind and vigorous health to win the battle of the carpets.

Too funny! I'm with the cats, I hate "landlord carpet" too. I swear it is a source of pride for them to pick the cheapest / ugliest one around. Although yours doesn't look bad. We once had red industrial carpet in an apartment, as in the stuff that is used in office buildings, the scratchiest, thinnest, ugliest stuff you ever did see.
And that little carpet hater sure looks adorable on her perch!!

Ha- looks good. Your cat is so cute!!

OMG Carrie....my cat does the SAME thing!!! Its on the stairs going "up" oly, lol..well I guess going down too....lol...poor thing:(
I have an update to our discussion last week...things are looking up...I "START" a week from yesterday....we will chat more later about it:)
Bag still hasnt departed..but will soon!

Claire Kiefer said...

So I'm confused about the shoes. What's inside them? How do they stay on if there is nothing to cover/strap in your toe? I may have to investigate further.

Re: the cats, maybe it's a blessing in disguise if your landlord will rip up the carpet so you can have hardwood? She looks mighty hilarious perched upon her throne.

those shoes are not remotely attractive and i certainly would NOT wear them!

and im sorry, but when i saw your carpet, my immediate thought was "that looks like mine"...and then i saw the cat on their "throne" and i started to laugh. totally a non-chalant attitude for a guilty lil animal. :-)

hope ur having a good day!

Taylor said...

HA!!!!!! I love that she is sleeping with her eyes slit to watch over what you are doing!!!! And girl I haven't shred either no worries you aren't alone.

Carrie, when I first saw the picture of those shoes I thought they looked similar to the YSL Tribtoo pumps I've been coveting and wondered why you didn't like them, but I looked closely and saw that they were open in the front. What the what!!!??? That is very weird and now I understand the hate.

It's crazy that you would mention that about your father's side of the family. I had two aunts (on my father's side) pass away in from brain aneurysms in the past two years. Every time I get a headache, I wonder and worry. You take care of yourself and those migraines!!!

The Shred can wait!! I won't even begin to tell you how I dropped it in the past few weeks. Such a slacker!!! How can we get re-motivated???

Oh Carrie you always make me smile! You never escape the annoying neighbors.... no matter where we move...

Haha, your cats are so funny! And WHAT is going on with those shoes?? I just clicked on the link and the price might have disturbed me more than the actual shoe (if that's possible). I hope your head feels better soon!

Corks + Caftans said...

oh, naughty kitties. look at her on those pillows; genius. Eli gets down and dirty w/ the sheepskin rug, make no mistake. but he'd love that pillowy perch!

Tell those shoes to die--what's next, foot binding? SOS could start a trend.

FRANKIE HEARTS FASHION said...

those shoes are the most hideous things I have ever seen! Someone was serious when the thought up that foot contraption...why o why would someone buy those? And for that kind of money no less!

Those Moroccan/boho thrones are tdf..and I'm pretty sure cat knows this too!

Eeek, sorry about your carpet! We have hardwood floors through most of the house except our room and the basement, the carpet is berber (is that how you spell it?) and my cat digs her claws into it but she hasn't destroyed it. Yet. She DOES to construction under our bed however.

I could not adore you more. The fact that your blog is all about your crazy life is, in fact, the reason I LOVE it, crave it, need it everyday when I feel like I'm in my very own zoo. I mean, cats that lounge on mountains of embroidered pillows and claw up the carpet? Crazy neighbors with no regard for others? You can't make this stuff up, because really, who'd want to?!

Heather said...

Ew. Those shoes made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Seriously? lol. What will they think of next??

what a cute cat. love her little boho perch.

i pray to the heavens you don't spot anyone flaunting around in those god awful shoes.

kimbirdy said...

oh i just ordered those shoes online. you can borrow them if you want. ...is what i'd say if i were absolutely insane!!! i can't believe how horrendously ugly those shoes are, and i can't believe that they cost over $800!! it's a sad state, this world we live in. look out above for flying pigs.

also, so sorry about the kitties destroying your carpet and the migraines. i hope you start feeling better and figure out a good kitty solution soon.

I prefer your crazy stories anyways. Those shoes are flipping hid.e.ous. I'm kind of a beeyotch, and I would get that guys car towed next time. It is illegal to park in front of a driveway here. Except I probably wouldn't call because in reality I'm too nice to people. It's not your fault that your LL installed cruddy carpets, and your cats just have the good sense to remove it.

cheap carpet is the worst!

i love your boho cat and his amazing pillows. jealous.

i failed, failed, failed at the shred. i think in total i've done 6 days. in about 3 weeks. whoops.

i'm trying to get back into yoga and bought jillian's yoga dvd so that has to count, right? haha

Mine used to rip up the carpet. They're not as comfortable with the wood floor...but I like it 'cause they were more stealthy on carpet...but I can hear their claws on the wood.
O, and those shoes are awful!

Bahaha - I am obsessed with that picture of your cat!! It actually reminds me of mine, who was sprawled out on our patio trunk like she was an Egyptian princess and she wanted two topless men to come pick up both ends of the trunk and take her to her food....

Hahahahah! That picture is hilarious. She's like "I'm on my throne, how dare you bother me"

AHAHAHAHA Lyddie!! i feel as though you need to head west so we can mount an attack on all the neighbors. wth is wrong w/me?? no need to answer that...

OH CARRIE can I relate to your woes right now. What hasn't my cat destroyed around here? Our furniture is ripped to shreds, the wall by his litter box is torn to shit and he barfs on everything we own. We have both had our unfair share of rude neighbors who can't take a hint, plus asshat landlords as well. I'd like to say it will all get better, but I think you already know how that goes. Hang in there. And don't do any exercise with that migraine!

Owow, my little Chis do the same thing...at the corners of the stairwell, right by the door...come to think of it, VERY very similar to the situation you have going on...I caved...switched it out to concrete flooring not too long ago...the little rascals! But how can you say no to that little face :D

haha, well I like fashion posts but I always like life posts as well! I love the picture you used with your cat, ahahha, talk about them destroying everything and then show them living the good life on her throne- so cute! That's annoying about the parking, I don't get why he didn't get the hint either. And yes, those shoes are weird as Hell! What the heck! Though I do want to see them on someone's feet because I'm confused.
