Dead In My Tracks Thursday

I do believe that's a cat on her head
Thank you Anna Sui

I thought Wednesday was supposed to be the easy day - the one where we go over the hump and down the hill to the weekend.  Well here's the bird to this week's Wednesday!  It sucked big time.
  • Phone rings at 7am when I don't have to be up until 8:30.  Bad sign.
  • Wake up to find it's bloody freezing in the house yet again.
  • Go to quickly wash some dishes and I'm out of dish soap.  Isn't that special?  Not
  • Lacking time to go to the store to purchase more.  Will a bar of Fresh soap work? Um no.
  • Forgot to buy anything for lunch so resort to eating peanut butter out of the jar.
  • So much for that diet and workout schedule.
  • Dallas Raines (the local weather guy for new followers) comes on this afternoon to say we have a cold week ahead of us.  In the 40's at night and highs of around 60.  Pass the peanut butter.
I do believe I've got a case of the winter blues.  Sigh.  The last thing I want to be thinking about is cold weather clothing (I'm seriously over it), but when I spotted this picture from Anna Sui's Fall 2011 RTW Show there was a long pause.  Think deer in the headlights.  Does this mean I get to wear fake cat heads on my head next fall?  It's like an upscale - and sane - version of that episode of TLC's My Strange Addiction (have you seen cigarette butt eating girl?!  how about couch cushion eating girl?!?  i'm sorry but that ain't right) where the girl prefers meandering around in public daily wearing elaborate animal costumes.  Only this is just a head, but the head of my favorite animal ever.  CAT.  Talk about brightening my day - what I would've done to be at this show!!  I do think this may be cause for a DIY.

sorry about your bad day -- I hope tomorrow is better! I feel you about the winter blues...boo. David Spence (CTV Calgary Weather!) says a very cold week for here too. No fun.

so true - I need one of those hats to keep warm! ;)

Too bad the weddings are in May - it will be warm here by then!

Now I cant put August on my head, it cant beat this.
Put some glittery nail polish on. Its all Ive come up with for the winter blues. Its been a little cooler the past couple of days so im just waiting for the inevitable cold snap to return. I know its coming. I just know it.

I knew I should have bought that Spirit Hood from that crazy guy in the bar that time.

I loved Anna Sui's line. Tomorrow we are going to have a warm up of 42 degrees. The downside is we will have freezing rain, and rain. Blah. I'm sick of wearing boots.

Bad days suck. Im having one today. It´s snowing!! Can you believe it? Its snowing again and Im wearing a skirt. I wanna go back home and spend the day in bed!!!

Now I see why you liked my chocolate almond butter so much :)

That cat hat is calling your name. I want to see the DIY.

I would take a winter with 60 degrees in a flash. As a matter of fact last Friday it was in the 60's here in Boston and for a second I thought spring has come.

Carrie, if I had a strange addiction I am certain I would not go on t.v. to publicize it... where do they find these people? I might just buy a plane ticket to come smack you... that's right... smack you... ha ha... you want cold come here! xo

oh wow.. that's an interesting hat.. lol.. does that mean anything goes? wolf hats? cow hats? haha.. ugh, and i def hate those days. Poor thing.. where nothing seems to go down the "RIGHT" path. And you are not allowed to complain about 40-60's... silly lady. It's -20 here. HUSH! :) xoxo

LOL, I am with Laura...its been dipping down below the 20s for a few days...that is without the windchill factor...so over winter!!!!

Here's to having a better day! Love Anna Sui btw.

People were wearing bunny ears a few seasons ago, so cat headdresses could be next.
And couch cushion eating girl freaked me out. Also, I'd love 60 right about now (we're in the teens)

Oyy...stupid bad days!! *kills*
And yea I loved her collection, the animal hats were so cute, hehe

Ugh I'm totally with you and the winter blahh's. I will be wildly anticipating you wearing a fake cat on your head next season! Wear a different animal each day and you could get on 'My Strange Addiction'. Hope your Thursday turns out a little better.

february is such a depressing month for most. not all but most. yuckers. i am sending you a smile.

ps - you know how much i love cats, right? and on her head? YES PLEASE!

Daniela said...

I don't know if I'd wear that though.... don't think I could pull it off!

(btw, I meant to respond to your Jersey shore question and completely forget. YES, major violence, drama. BEDS were thrown. Gotta love the Shore)

Cafe Fashionista said...

Sadly, I find myself coveting a cat on my head - very peculiar indeed. It makes me think of Alice in Wonderland.

BTW...peanut butter eaten directly out of the jar is the best EVER!! :)

jeanette from everton terrace said...

I'm not sure about the cat hat, not sure. Well, I couldn't pull it off but I know if I saw someone in it, it would make me smile :)
I got lost yesterday and drove around for over an hour trying to get back to the road I started on - glad yesterday is over too.

Funny post, but I'm sure it wasn't for you waking up early....
No cat hats for me.

Marie a la Mode said...

A furball on one's head is tacky. I prefer them on my lap!

Anonymous said...

Oh WOW! I love the outfit minus the cat hat, people think I am weird enough as it is. :)

Kristen said...

highs in the 60's?! oh you have no idea how good you have it ;) that cat is freaking me out.

Rissy said...

I know this is unfair to say because we have different expectations for temps because of geography, but I'd give my first born to feel 60 right now.
Ok well I don't have a first born so that's pretty easy to say...

Anywho PB out of the jar is a perfectly acceptable meal... think of all that protein ; )

This runway trend can only mean good things for my orca hat. And that episode where the lady eats the couches was bonkers (have you seen the one with the gal who eats soap?).

Yeah I had a day like that yesterday. My transmission died (car trouble is my worst nightmare) and it's gonna cost me (wait for it) $1200!! Talk about getting a bomb dropped. So happy I am fleeing to Scottsdale this weekend. Maybe I can find some warm!

What is going on with this crazy weather!? It is my birthday this weekend so that is the only thing keeping me from not walking around with some animal on my head for some light hearted laughs and giggles. Anything to brighten my mood! Hope yours picks up too! Hey, you can always come down and celebrate with me. Animal hats included! ;) xo Samantha

Ew. Bad days suck, especially when they are Wednesdays because you know that you still have two more days until the weekend.
Why don't we ditch this place and run away together to a far off island where we can become famous and be worshipped by the natives?
Now that would be a good Wednesday.

dear bettys (some kinda bitter over the weather): i just had a chocolate for breakfast. the decline continues. oh and it sounds like it's spreading given the backs up over the weather. sowee but 40 in california is like in the 20's for those of you around the country. mmmmkay? pardon me while i go back to my box of turtles for a moment.

Alyssa said...

cat heads work. i love how plush this one looks. yes, it's chilly, i woke up at two in the morning last night on the ground (hardwood floors no less) literally hugging my space heater. last i remember, i was sitting at my computer desk working prior to that.

TheChambrayCountess said...

All I know is that you expend lots of calories trying to stay warm, so work out schedule be damned! Your work out is trying to stay alive! ;)

PS- I was a jungle cat for Halloween. It's surprising how fun it is to "meow" at people- go for it!

kimbirdy said...

yes! wear that cat hat with pride! i have a furry monster hat that makes me feel like the boy from "where the wild things are" every time i put it on. i wonder if a cat hat would just make you want to take long naps and get back massages all day long. still, not a bad way to survive the winter...

Moosette said...

Totally over the cold weather... I mean we live in Southern California for the warm weather right??

That was a hilarious post. However I will admit that peanut butter is a part of my daily diet -- it's protein. Hell yeah, it is!

Laura said...

So sorry about the bad day! When it rains, it pours it seems. Try wearing some bright colors to combat the Winter blues.

Fashion Cappuccino said...

Arrgh, I know, there's always that one day during the week where everything turned out wrong! I wouldn't paid any attention to the model's head unless you pointed out! :-) xxoxoxoo

@Laura - thx so much i think i'm going to accept an invite to a private james perse sale later today. cotton always makes me feel better :) xo

Valerie said...

Isn't it great how peanut butter is always there for us to comfort and soothe? What would we do without it? The cat head is something special. It's halloween meets runway and you DEFINITELY need to make a DIY out of this! I can picture you wearing the cat head all around town and getting a thousand compliments. And maybe a couple funny looks, but what do they know anyway??

this hat is a cat lady's dream!! You need to hook yourself on one of these STAT. Sh*tty day must have been in the water yesterday...I too had a crap day. But nothin that bottle of wine couldn't fix! Now if only you could wear the hat while sipping on a margi while eating chocolate it would be pure bliss!

I'm definitely in a winter funk, too! We saw glimpses of spring last week with weather in the 60's, but now its supposed to snow again tomorrow. You've got to be kidding meeeee

I hope you have a sunny weekend!

I'm with you on the winter blues...I NEED SUN! It snowed again here on Tuesday and I did all I could to get out of bed (kids were home anyways so I didn't have to at the normal time). Today it's rainy and cold with high winds, sounds delightful, right! Have a wonderful weekend, darling! xoxo

I'd love if the weather would stay in the 60s here! It keeps dropping just when I think it's getting warm. :(

Hope your weekend will be much better!

And My Strange Addiction is CRAZY. What would possess anyone to eat a couch cushion?! Ugh.

LOVE THE CAT HAT!! love the dress too, it's like romance from a different era- so baroque. Anna Sui is baroque perfection..

p.s have you been introduced to chalk eating girl? I think MTV may have done that special. If I were to be featured on the show, they would label me compulsive halloween candy eater- sweets in general are my poison.

I just have to say how funny it is that your misery is my happiness. I'd kill for temps in the 60s! So just think - you could be living in Chicago where temps in the 30s is considered warm! Happy Friday, Carrie! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
