Dead In My Tracks Thursday

This is a new thing I'm thinking about doing:  what's stopping me in my tracks.  You know how it is, right?  Every once in awhile there is that certain something that catches your eye and you just can't get it out of your mind.  Like that one time I met...oh forget it.

One would think I'd have learned my lesson by now, but no that would be too easy.  I let these slip by this past fall - only to see a woman wearing them a couple weeks ago.  You probably heard me screaming.  All around the world.

Isabel Marant - Red Poppy Pumps
forever to be known as 'salt in the wound'

To make matters worse they were even better in person AND she stopped to talk to me during which time I confessed I was considering ripping them off her feet - was she a 36 by chance?  She said she wasn't, although looking back now I think she may have fibbed out of fear.  Smart girl.  I was most definitely sporting the eye of the tiger that day.

Two days ago I saw this skirt and for a moment my heart stopped.  I then proceeded to think about it all day yesterday, look it up on the internet 392847529x, imagine the warm summer day I'd wear it on.  Seriously - I do all this romanticizing of a garment, a shoe, you name it on a regular basis.

Feast your eyeballs.

Despite the fact that she is 3lbs and I am, okay, not 3lbs I'm not letting this mother pass me by.  I've got my wallet out and I'm ready to take action.  Here's hoping it works on someone who is 5'3'' after extreme Pilates stretching.  Warm summer days here I come.

If you happen to be out there possessing information on where I can get my hands on those Isabel Marant pumps in a 36 - well by all means, please do fire away in the comments section!  Save a life, free up a brain cell.

Dying to see how you'd wear both these things, given that they're outside of the zone that I've identified as the Carrie zone. But girlfriend, you're 3lbs too, and you'll look fly as hell in that skirt. ;)

I haven't forgotten about this one pair of shoes I saw in Paris ALMOST 9 YEARS AGO. They were black leather and one said "he loves me" and the other said "he loves me not." I couldn't afford them then but damned if I haven't regretted not resorting to the "moulin rouge" in order to make it happen!

I'm trying not to think about shopping lately but I like this idea. Lifes too short, right?

That skirt is veryclose to occupying my mind! It's fab. I am loving all the maxi skirts and dresses this year. And it seems many of us can understand the height (or lack thereof issue)...nothing a good seamstress can't fix for you ;)

In my brain is why do i hate my closet so much? why do i have so many impulse buys - crappy things i never wear? I am stopping it. I am waiting thinking and then purchasing....I am getting myself everyone of my promo gifts (slowly) and screw the price tag on a A.Wang T- i deserve it and have wanted one for ages! That is my goal no more impulse buys - save and get something you really want!

I'm still fixating on my Fluevog boots...so I know the feeling. I had a party this weekend and someone showed up wearing a similar style and I was contemplating robbing her. Also, totally unrelated, I can't believe that you are 5'3"! I would have pegged you for 5'6" or so. Debby's right, good things do come in small packages.

I love the skirt, but the shoes! Eeek! They are worth going bankrupt for! Contact Marant and get her to give you a pair so that you can style them on your blog! Or maybe call your bf, J.Bieber and ask him to buy them for you! hehe

Those pumps are to die for! AND THE SKIRT IS CALLING MY NAME. It makes me think of sunshine and warm weather and lounging by the pool at the Viceroy while drinking a bellini. You must get it!!! I will forever kick myself for passing on this amazing low back L.A.M.B. dress about 5 years ago (yes, I'm STILL thinking about it). I'll send you a pic I have on my desktop. Haha.

Oh, several years ago I found a beautiful vintage leather jacket with beatiful pleating and the most unique hand-embroidered silk lining. At Value Village. For $50. I ask myself all the time why in the world I put it back!

whoa wait, where's that skirt from!? I need it right meow.

"look it up on the internet 392847529x"

you know, I have a confession to make, b/c I did that circa 2003... I cannot believe I'm about to admit this... looking at Jenny from the Blizzock in these sky-high wood and lucite shoes. The heel was just a slab of lucite. The sluttiest shoes on earth! I sprained my ankle twice in them then let the dog have them as a chew toy.

I frequently stop people and tell them how much I adore what they're wearing and sometimes casually ask if they're feeling charitable. It's pretty classy of me, I know.

And Carrie, I think you actually are thinner than Miss Vanessa, so I say hunt down that skirt and snap one up!

I can not get enough skirts for spring or summer. I think I only own one pair of shorts as I live in skirts. This one is a beauty and I must say I believe you would rock this one.

smokinnnn hot - the shoes and well that skirt is something i would adore having in my possession. I've missed you in my absence. I wish i could have packed you in my suitcase for sure ;) ;)

You are not the only one drooling over those Isabel Marant shoes!! I've been doing an ebay search, stalking NAP all the time and finding a suitable look-a-like to no avail.
I'm not sure I would be able to escape extreme guilt if I did find myself buying them.

I obsess by scouring the internet for photos of people wearing the item (lookbook helps). Although my regret is not buying a beautiful black fur collar that I tried on (2 days in a row!) and never bought.... in Shanghai. Yea no chance of ever getting that one.
Good luck with the shoes!!! Hope to one day see them on the blog ;)

I do the same exact thing with romanticizing garments. Namely, I can think of quite a few rings that I've let slip by me that I wish I hadn't. I would check EBAY for those pumps... they pop up there occasionally. I know this because I have been obsessively stalking the Isabel Marant "Bidou" boots on EBAY for awhile now. Also, that skirt is gorgeous and I think it will look great on you.

Giula - I tried to check out your blog girl, but no dice. It won't let me in.

I thought i was the only one obsessing over stuff I didn't buy. I want to kick myself for not buying a leopard coat at Zara last winter. And all I've been seeing lately is that coat:( Oh well, we need to learn our lesson. Just buy it!

Yes, I know those things. I know them a bit too well, I think. Right now I'm crushing on this marc jacobs bag that has cute little birds on it, and i'm thinking "Oh my god! Birds! Adorableness! Need!"

And it's crazy because that bag is about $350 more than I'd ever want to spend on a bag and now I'm having fantasies about finding in tjmaxx.

These obsessions are almost like a disorder.

And I can't wait to see the skirt, cuz it's gorgeous, and you will totally pull it off.

Oh I know what you mean! Whenever I see shoes or some piece of clothing I love, I obsess over it until I get it or until the obsession goes away. Which actually happened yesterday, in which today I bought these shoes I couldn't get out of my head.
Well I hope you find those beautiful shoes you want! That skirt is so pretty! I can't wait for warm weather to wear stuff like that!
