Get it in Gear

This morning I had the misfortune of having to take my car into the shop due to it having recently decided that reverse is no longer in its vernacular. Apparently drive must also be under consideration for the heave-ho pile because yesterday found me jammed in front of the neighbor's garage desperately trying to escape. Funnnnnn times over here, people.

Having grown up on a farm I consider myself well-versed in phrases like, 'DAD WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR??!?!?!'. I'm sure you city dwellers feel much the same about your situations, if you have a dad (or a mom) who understand things about flushing the transmission and so on and so forth. All I have to say is between my dad and google I was able to go in at least semi-prepared (read: not a total deer in headlights) and feel as though they could not take advantage of me. It sucks to have to distrust the car people, but they brought it on themselves.

I was also sure to arrive looking somewhat tattered, like I mean business but without a suit. Picked up off the closet floor from yesterday-chic, if you really must know. Why mess with a good thing? Another lady in there gave me a nod when I walked by. She was wearing a military jacket and a sleek ponytail. I see ya lady, I see ya. Never let 'em see you sweat!!

Case in point as to why one should never look a good closet dive in the mouth.

I need that shirt. Like now. And speaking of autos, this gal recently got her learner's and is learning to drive a manual on Alberta winter roads. Someone's going to get hurt and a car, maybe two, will be wrecked.

Courtney I learned to drive a 6 speed stick on icy roads in Alberta, Edmonton to be exact. YOU CAN DO IT and you will never regret it!!

After driving stick for 15 years I am SO PISSED that I went with an automatic. Not even near the road control or driving experience.

Not that I'm freaking Andretti or anything, but I do like some speed!

You go girl!!

Ok, I'm headed to J. Crew tomorrow to see if they have that sweater. Looks like a good pick for Thanksgiving weekend.
I'm still trying to calm down after the Sephora/UPS debacle. Why is the world angry at me? Why?!

I flip flopped about the sweater and now want it again. Enabler!
I'm all about dressing down as well when I'm trying to bring the negotiation back to me/get ripped off less.

Sorry about the car trouble. And know I know what to get your for your birthday next year, a cut out of Edward (or are you Team Jake, oh wait, is that the name of the other dude?)?

Carrie, I'm so sorry about your car -- what a drag. On the bright side, you look ADORABLE. The sweater. The jeans. The boots. Dying.

So sorry about your car! It's annoying how much we have to depend on them in so cal. If you need recommendations on a safe place to get your car fixed, I know of a place in Irvine. Great people not trying to stiff anyone. In fact, they've turned me away in the past and sent me to Kragen and told me which parts to get and showed me how to install in order to save me loads of money.

Seriously, best closet dive ever. But since your closet is pretty damn magical to start, you had a head start. Godspeed with the vehicle!

Love this look Carrie! It's so chill and relaxed, like most Californians, no? What did you think of the last Twilight movie? I saw it on Saturday and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The last book was my least favorite but the movie was pretty good I thought! And I LOVED the twist!
