By what, you ask?
Oh, well, everything.
As you get older interesting things happen, and I don't mean those lines around your mouth. What might have once overwhelmed you, things like making sure you have on just the right outfit or turning yourself inside out to get a mean person's approval, well those things oftentimes fade away. You're comfortable in your own skin, satisfied with who you are. Victory, right? In a sense, yes. It is a victory.
But other equally annoying things crop up in their place. Thoughts like, 'Damn I'm old, I need to buy a house!' and 'Did my friend just say her kid's in junior high? Do I even have any eggs left in the basket?!' Yeah, those annoying things. Thankfully the only eggs I'm thinking about right now are the ones I missed out on at Easter. But the house thing? I'll admit: I wouldn't mind my own personal space. Free from neighbors who help themselves to my barbecue just as I'm about to barbecue. True story.
One of Southern California's saving graces is its apartments. A lot of them are chock full of character, and you can't help wanting to move every couple years when one of the good ones comes up for grabs. Remember this place? I've kept an eye on it since I first spotted it about 5 years ago. It has now been for rent for 2 months, so the other day I caved and stopped by to check it out when I saw the sign: No Pets. What do you mean NO PETS? Don't these people know cats are family? Fa-mi-lee.
There it is. Big windows waiting for my white couch just inside...perfect cat sunning perch.
Obviously someone else wasn't feeling the 'No Pets' hate because they turned that sign upside down.
Can't do it y'all. Home is where the cats are.

i feel ya! we are thinking about renting out our home and renting one better suited for when the baby comes...but so many don't allow dogs. such a bummer. btw...forever 21 sells that jacket? wow...looks awesome!
We've been renting forEVER and definitely do the move every time something "fun" and new comes into our radar. But now we want pets (cats... yessss) and most places are anti. So as a compromise... maybe?... we're gonna buy a place. and become animal people because everyone else told us we cant. :P
You look wonderful.
And I loved this post - I'm getting older and have begun to worry about finding a home of my own and a little about the suitability of my eggs.
Too bad that place doesn't allow pets - it looks perfect and, frankly, like some place a cat would really enjoy!
Ruthy! That blazer IS from Forever21--It's a sweatshirt material and has great, non-cheapy buttons. Total military style for, I think, $24.80 or $29.80. I picked it up a couple weeks ago so they might still have some. It's great.
awesome outfit, score on those F21 pieces.
sometimes no pet rules can be bent for cats. (As in, they refer more to large dogs, or they say no pets because some people aren't as responsible as well all know you are.)Did you check with the landlord?!
Girlie I wished I rented awhile - but I grew up with this "never pay the landlord" drilled in my head - I'm tired of my money pit - never ever ending ... 1 day I hope to sit back and have nadda to do around here
That place looks amazing! We've had some trouble renting with cats (including one wacko landlord who actually told us we could have apartment if we killed (and that's the word he used) our cats. I almost killed him).

Your hair looks great!
No pets? No go. When we were renting I'd come across tons of places with a 25 lb and under rule for dogs. Huh? A 26 lb dog will ruin your property? People are weird.
call on it anyway! negotiate a pet deposit! You might be able to get it and finally get away from your crazy ass neighbors!
that needs to be a bumper sticker. "home is where the cats are." i love it!
Love me those FP jeans.

HOT. HOT, WOMAN.
Your hair looks fabulous and I swear you could write a book about your wackadoo neighbors.
I'm still in the renting stage of my life because things are so overpriced here and I have been perfectly fine with renting since I can get tired of living somewhere and just get the urge for a change of pace. But my priorities have shifted the older I get and every once in awhile, I feel left behind because my friends are married with real mortgages. And dammit, I want to be able to rip up the carpet or install some new lighting to my taste. That's all to say, I feel ya and sorry that the nice little house with the picturesque windows had a stupid no pets sign. Let's hope you can work around that a move in anyway.
I love your outfit from head to toe, especially those ripped jeans. And no pets? Pshhhhh
First of all, love the outfit!!! :D
and second, how annoying that they don't allow pets!! (the place I'm renting doesn't allow them either, but I don't have any so it doesn't matter, ha ha)
I can't wait until I'm at that stage of life...right now I'm still in the "why don't you have a boyfriend? you'll never get married" stage. and at the same time "you can't quit your job, you're a grown up now...all jobs suck" Making me so stressed out, I want to punch someone!!!!! (sorry for venting, haha)

How was your cowboy burger?
@hogger: just finished it. So good!
Can't you sneak the cats in? That place looks fabulous...I mean, that window! Whoa!
I would love to live there! No pets? Isn't that discrimination?
i know, with each age or chapter comes the unloading of old burdens and introducing yourself to new ones. frustrating!!
i hate no pet places. I currently live in a no pet place and it's very sad. i was all amped up to get my own cat! Next lease I suppose.
I love your outfit here, that first image is stunning.
I just don't get what's wrong with Pets.
LOve your jeans! doll!
PS. I was just going over with my first time homebuyers how much money they "throw away" each year renting..it's CRAZY! Plus, the tax benefits are super cool when you own a home :)
I love your jeans! I would love to come and raid your closet. xo
You are so not old! :)
need. to get. together.
They are not pets ~ they are your CHILDREN!!!! I know that some people don't understand but I do ~ I got your back!
I couldn't live without my pups either, they are just too entertaining.
Beautiful! Love your top!:)
