Fringe Files

You know how there were the X-Files? Well I'm starting the Fringe Files to document all my fringe-ified outfits--primarily because I've run out of titles. *confession*

Speaking of confessions I don't know about you, but I spent most of yesterday watching 9/11 documentaries.  At first I didn't want to remember because of how sad it is, but then I remembered that I need to remember:  out of respect for the people who died and their surviving family members.  And also so that I don't become lackadaisical about the horrific events that happened that day.  Probably my favorite documentary was the one CBS aired called 9/11:  10 Years Later.  If you didn't catch it I highly recommend picking it up on iTunes.  Two French guys were doing a documentary on a rookie firefighter, and ended up capturing incredible footage at Tower One when one of them went to the scene with Chief Pfeifer.  It took my breath away and captured an insider's view like nothing else I've seen.  Even now, hours later, I can't stop thinking about it.

The only time I managed to get out yesterday was in an attempt to grab brunch.  Upon emerging from the house it became apparent that all the streets were blocked off due to yet another neighborhood event I probably threw out the flyer forso we snapped a few pictures on the spot before rolling back upstairs to bust out the pb&j.  Not nearly the same as chips & salsa with a side of margaritas, but somehow I managed to survive.  Imagine that.

~Outfit: Sportsgirl-Crochet Fringe Sweater Tank (similar), BCBG-Ribbed Lace Tank,
Elizabeth and James-Stevies (Jimi), Brandy & Melville Fringe Bag (similar)~
I may or may not have worn this tank a few times in the past week.
It is a birthday gift from my dear blogger friend Milijana who always remembers me.
Hope to meet her in person someday!
Fact of the matter:  I feel like Sarah Connor from The Terminator in this outfit.
All I need is about 50 more arm workouts and to tone up the junk in the
trunk so I can kick a head off.  She did girl power like no other!

Glad to see the sun was shining at the weekend for you. You look lovely in warm sunhine. And I did see a few programmes on 9/11. We are all fragile in the face of disasters. Wishing you a happy week.

We watched that documentary last night. Some years I can't bring myself to watch any 9/11 coverage, but like you said, we need to remember.

Your sunday sounds so similar to mine--we sat at the house for the majority of the day almost glued to the tv with 9/11 coverage. However, on a lighter note--I love this outfit. That fringe is kick ass. :)

I saw a little of that documentary yesterday, but the fiance soon made me turn back to football (which I usually wouldn't mind too much, but it was a really interesting program). I will have to see if I can find it on demand. I love the outfit, also! Too bad you didn't end up going anywhere for brunch, but I don't mind lazy days in, either.

Ooh love the outfit, that tank is awesome!
I didn't watch any of the 9/11 coverage, but that's because I don't have cable/internet at my new place yet...still can't believe it's been 10 years :/

You ook cute in all your outfits.
I was drawn into allthe programs as well. It was so but important to remember.
Today on the Today show there is a commercial of kids singing about
NY at a fire station. It isn't really a commercial but sponsered by State Farm. It is wonderful.

I watched the back end of that doc when I got home from camping yesterday - it was great, incredibly moving. And I totally think you look like you're working a little Sarah Conner vibe here...and that is always a good thing.

Carrie, you're so right -- it's hard to remember but we have to or else, well, we forget.

And you always manage to rock the fringe like nobody's business. I love this fab, fringey look; the bag is super cute and those jeans are of course phenomenal!

Do you ever have an off day? Doubtful because you always look great!! :)

So crazy that 9/11 was 10 years ago. Seems like just yesterday...

P.S. What about an late lunch/early dinner? My dog is still a puppy and has to be crated (or she eats EVERYTHING) so I can't leave her in a cage for too long. I'll be in Fullerton and can head down relatively early.

I love this look big time-maybe it's the magical fringe, but it's just so damn good!

Also, I NEED to see the look on your face when you turned down a stripper night on the town.

I love this fringe so much (and fringe in general), and you look amazingly beautiful & so young in these pictures. I'm jealous of your body, girl! And of the mere thought of margaritas, chips, & salsa. Yum. Now that's a cure for the Mondays.

I was definitely watching a lot of 9/11 tributes yesterday too. On lots of different channels, they were so touching. On a lighter note, your outfit with the fringe purse and top is so cute and 70's chic. It's definitely a style I love, you look great. :)

Ahhhh! I can't get over your bag! Every time you wear it I secretly make it my mission to find something similar :) And your jeans are the perfect shade (love that they're not ripped).

I spent yesterday flying out of JFK- I surprisingly was really calm and wouldn't allow myself to watch too much of the news beforehand... but still...

Anyways, great outfit!

I spent most of Sunday watching the 9/11 coverage too and it really did bring back so many emotions. On a lighter note, I'm obsessed with your fringed sweater tank! I love all your fringe stuff. I need to get some more fringe in my life.

you are always able to pull off the things i would not dare to try to pull off...and you do it so well it makes me sick!!!

i love fringe but have been soooo hesitant to try it over the years :( it looks so fabulous on you carrie!

I was traveling on 9/11 and when we got home, we had no cable, so that was a blessing for me, I just have a hard time dealing with all the documentaries and interviews.
Loving the double fringe on you. Love love love!

I love this top! I watched a lot of documentaries on Sunday too but after a while, I just couldn't anymore. I needed something more lighthearted so I turned to bad reality TV. Oy.

And yes - I definitely put my food in little piles and I HATE when foods touch each other (unless they're supposed to). The BF just piles everything onto his plate and doesn't care what touches. I don't get it!?!

Leah said...

I watched a few of those documentaries as well. It is good to see things from a new perspective 10 years later. Still so sad though.

Yep, fringes are really something! I don't necessarily dislike them on clothing, but I definitely prefer them in jewelry

Fringe on fringe, awesome. I'd so like to come and raid your closet :)

Also what line dropped at target (today's post) that caused people to act like it's the end of the world????!!
