Dan-ger on the Fall Sales Seas!

It all started last week when I got an email from someone named Dan-ger (true story) stating I had just won $1,000,000.  All Dan-ger required was for me to send Dan-ger my full name, address, bank routing and account numbers.  Oh and, of course, my social security number.

Correspondence went something like this:
 Dear Dan-ger:  Nice Try.
Sincerely:  Carrie.  And no you're not getting my real last name.  Suck it.
Why oh why do these people insist on trying to scam the poor and innocent?  What if an elderly person just got a computer for the very first time and happened to need money?  They could fall for Dan-ger's schemes.  Any naive person could.  I'd like to give Dan-ger a piece of my mind.  I hope he's reading this.  Here's a piece!!  And yes I did just use Dan-ger's fake name 7x.  Because any fool trying to scam someone using the handle "Dan-ger" is not working up to his or her full scamming potential.  Really Dan-ger...DANGER!! As in stranger danger (coincidentally enough) - I mean we all learned that one in elementary.  Shakes head profusely so happy for the weekend and the delete button.

It's sad that Dan-ger has no intention on giving me a MIL, because I could really use it right about now given all the sick sales codes that also appeared in my email this week. In order to keep myself focused on not acquiring a bunch of things I'll wear once, but love opening the closet just to see hanging there while I eat rice noodles to pay the bills, I came up with a list of what I am allowed to contemplate. Grouped by texture and not necessarily these items per se.  Who am  I kidding?  These items, too.

And, of course, Bling!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!

I had a great day on the workout and eat healthy wagon - it was a 2 mile brisk walk and another Pilates session.  My abs were screaming and I could barely haul it out of bed.  Feels good! Next week I'll share some of my snack tips and what not so that all of you who are jumping on with me can get some ideas.  It was awesome to see your response and I would love to hear anything that's working well for you, too.  Wave buh-bye to the muffins!!

It's like a bad joke, the second you want to save money for whatever reason tons of amazing sales pop up. Why?! If only Dan-ger really had that moolah...

Hi Carrie... now I need velvet and ruffles and quilted too! I am such a freak when it comes to cute flats. Do you do a pilates tape or a class? If it's a DVD which one do you like? My muffin top has become more of a bundt cake. xo

I absolutely neeeeeeed that feather clutch and if I thought I could pull off the sequin pants I would probably wear them for the rest of my life. Nothing like a sequin to bring some cheer to the day! And I totally have items that I've worn once but totally keep just so I can visit them in my closet, I know it's silly but I honestly take pleasure from the mere fact that they are in there.
Hope you have a great weekend!!

I want that silk shirt, carrieeeeee!!!!!

and it's too bad it takes moneys to get good art. you should do that polaroid project, it would be so cool! then blog about it so i can see! i'm trying to choose my own photos to put up around the house - it is still so expensive to blow them up and then buy frames. arghghg. I'd rather buy silk shirts is the problem!

Wow, I love all of these items! I've gotten a few similar emails...I don't even open them. Quite annoying, and yes, I've heard about older people getting scammed in similar ways. So sad.

SOO HARD not to be tempted....and your man must be after my heart - carmel and chocolate! YUM!!!

PS - How do you like pilates, I am interested in maybe signing up for a couple classes, here in the city it is quite expensive so I wanted so advice!

Jude said...

I love the leather boots and that bling! I would love to hear more about the pilates! I used to live with a dancer and a few at-home pilates sessions killed me forever. I'm so hesitant to do it now! But I could use motivation (I'm heading to muffin top city :))

Cashmere and Fur? Is there any better combination than those two??

I get TONS of those kinds of emails every single day. I feel like typing back to all of them, "Are you kiddng me??? Are you KIDDING me?" Grrrrr!

I love all your picks, especially that feathered purse! You have great style!

Yay for the Pilates burn! And what a coincidence, I'm eating a muffin right now.

I kind of need you to hurry and share your snacking secrets because I am a SNACK A HOLIC.

Ah, I love those emails letting you know you've won a boatload of money "if you just ..." haha. I would be the happiest girl in the world if someone really wanted to hand me over a big fat check for doing nothing! And I'm totally in love with that lace and velvet pair of shorts; oh Topshop you always know my weaknesses!

So, I can proudly say I participated in two days of a *unique* exercise class this week - a pole dancing fitness class! Even though it took me out of my comfort zone (booty shorts on soccer thighs are not my favorite workout gear), it seemed a bit more interesting than the treadmill to say the least. Turns out it's A LOT more work than I'd bargained for! (I have a whole new respect for the "profession." I did not look the least bit graceful or seductive once in my combined three hours of classes!) I have bruises everywhere and my arms are sore beyond belief so sadly I will not be making it to my third and final class after-all. I think those are good enough excuses to wuss out, plus two out of three ain't bad. Starting Monday though I'm going to TRY to put myself on some sort of routine and see what kind of work out dvd's Netflix has on queue.

i love how you grouped all the items by texture! such fun pieces. can dan-ger hook me up with a real MIL too please?! thanks

Ugh, spam is so annoying and wrong! I love the velvet and lace skirt so much! Good luck with the healthy bandwagon. I've been trying to exercise more. I don't know what happened with me because I was exercising like crazy leading up to the wedding and then after we got back from Italy I just got SO lazy!

woow those shorts and the feather clutch are to die for! I have a similar clutch though, from ASOS. it wasn't really expensive. I still must use it once!

anyway, i'm totally inspired by your healthy post! i need to get back on the health wagon!

I love the leather boots and feathered clutch in this post. Too bad I couldn't just instantly add those to my closet. Sigh..

I'm definitely on the healthy kick with you! (By the way, I scrolled past the pretty stuff REALLY quickly so as to avoid temptation, ha!) Anywho... I am so excited to read your healthy snack tips. Nighttime snacking is my downfall but there's this chickpea/potato salad that I keep in the fridge at all times that's more healthy than chips or raw noodles (don't judge!!). Other favorites are salsa with carrots/cucumbers and er... cheese and crackers. Scrap that last one! Clearly I need more ideas!

This is exactly what I need to do in order to stay on track with my wallet restriction. Make a list of acceptable items (or textures) in order to get through the sale/promo e-mails of the holidays. Right now feathers and fur are at the top of my list. Oh, and sequins! Cannot get enough of those. It's seriously amazing how many scam e-mails I get a day. I wonder how often that works out for them. And what's the ratio of payout to energy exerted. Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be easier for them to just go out and get a real job instead of spending all their time trying to scam people.
